The Line 17-Gold Promises to Transform São Paulo! Connecting Congonhas Airport, the new monorail line generates jobs, attracts billions in investments, and improves urban mobility.

It seems that the long-awaited day is finally approaching! The capital of São Paulo is about to expand its transportation network with a direct connection to Congonhas Airport.

But it’s not just the easier access to the airport that makes this news so exciting.

The Line 17-Gold project brings promises of thousands of jobs and billion-dollar investments, which are expected to transform the city’s infrastructure and strengthen the local economy.

As announced by Governor Tarcísio de Freitas, tests with the first train will begin in January 2025.

This phase marks a crucial advance, and the expectation is that the line will be operational in 2026.

The project goes far beyond facilitating transportation — it promises to create thousands of jobs and attract significant investments, preparing São Paulo for the future.

The Economic Impact of Line 17-Gold

According to the Government of the State of São Paulo, Line 17-Gold represents an investment of about R$ 3 billion.

This amount, in addition to enabling the construction and operation of the line, foresees the generation of over 6,000 direct and indirect jobs.

According to the state government, the construction and start of operations should mobilize the infrastructure, engineering, security, and logistics sectors, generating jobs at various levels and areas.

In addition, the project also involves the participation of international companies, such as BYD Skyrail, which is responsible for manufacturing and supplying the trains that will operate on the line.

The new monorail line is expected to transport up to 90,000 passengers per day, a crucial boost for urban mobility in the capital of São Paulo.

Advances in Construction and First Tests

Line 17-Gold, which will connect Congonhas Airport to Morumbi Station on Line 9-Emerald, will bring a significant advantage for passengers using the airport.

In total, there will be 8 stations, including Morumbi, Chucri Zaidan, Vila Cordeiro, Campo Belo, Vereador José Diniz, Brooklin Paulista, Congonhas Airport, and Washington Luís.

During a visit to the Água Espraiada Yard on the first day of the month, Governor Tarcísio de Freitas stated:

“We are monitoring the project, and it is on schedule. The civil works are progressing, and the work at the terminals is also well underway. In the coming months, people will begin to notice a big difference as many equipment is arriving for installation.”

The tests will begin at the Água Espraiada Yard and will be carried out in several phases, including static tests, where each system of the train will be thoroughly evaluated, and dynamic tests, which will check the performance of the train while in motion.

The Impact in the Coming Years

The monorail of Line 17-Gold is expected to improve connectivity in the southern zone of São Paulo.

In addition to facilitating access to the airport, the line should reduce travel time between various regions of the city.

The arrival of the trains manufactured in China marks an important step for the project, which involves the importation and installation of 14 trains.

Each train has a capacity of up to 616 passengers, as well as seating and areas reserved for people with disabilities.

The second train is expected to arrive in Brazil by the end of 2024, with the others scheduled to arrive throughout 2025.

Potential for Local Development

The new segment represents a considerable impact on the local economy and on the improvement of urban mobility in the city.

According to estimates from the state government, the project will have positive effects not only on employability but also on the development of sectors such as commerce and services.

With a forecast to serve 90,000 passengers daily, Line 17-Gold promises to boost growth in areas surrounding the new stations, creating opportunities for entrepreneurs and investors.

Metro Integration and Connection with Other Lines

The integration with other lines of the metro network is one of the highlights of Line 17-Gold.

In addition to the direct connection with Line 9-Emerald, the new monorail will link to Line 5-Lilac, facilitating passenger access to various points in the city and promoting more efficient transportation.

The structure of the monorail includes elevated platforms, and each train is equipped with five cars.

With 114 seats and a capacity for 616 passengers, the line is designed to meet the growing demand for passengers in the southern region of São Paulo.

The expected start of operations is 2026, and it is anticipated that Line 17-Gold will bring lasting benefits to the city, encouraging public transportation use and helping to reduce traffic on São Paulo’s main roads.

Do you think the investment in Line 17-Gold will really improve urban mobility and generate all these economic benefits? Leave your opinion in the comments!
