West Jupiter is the third Seadrill platform working for Petrobras
This new contract will make the West Jupiter a 6th generation ultra-deep drillship built in 2014 by Samsung Heavy Industries, the third Seadrill platform working for Petrobras in the Búzios field.
“Petrobras is a longtime and valued customer of Seadrill, and signing a third contract with them this quarter is testament to our strong partnership and commitment to the Brazilian market,” said Stuart Jackson, CEO of Seadrill.
“Seadrill is focused on increasing the fleet in strategic basins where we see high growth potential, such as Brazil, where we are now the largest international drilling contractor,” he added.
For just these three platforms that should work in Búzios, Petrobras must pay US$ 813 million to Seadril
As for the other two drillships that will work in the Búzios field for Petrobras, their contracts were awarded at the end of November.
In other words, Petrobras granted agreements to the West Carina and West Tellus platforms. The total contract value for these two platforms was approximately US$549 million, including mobilization revenue and additional services.
Both contracts are on a three-year fixed-term basis and the two platforms are expected to start operating for Petrobras in September 2022. For just these three platforms that are expected to operate in Búzios, Petrobras is expected to pay US$813 million to Seadrill .
Just days after the West Carina and West Tellus contracts were awarded, Seadrill claimed to have won two more deals, this time for working on the Gulf of Mexico.
The first agreement was awarded by Eni for the Sevan Louisiana semi-submersible platform for a firm well. The other was for the drillship West Neptune, which will continue its work with LLOG, which has exercised an option worth US$10 million.
