Shell Oil Company Has 31 Requests for Installation of Photovoltaic Solar Plants to Build a Solar Complex in the States of Minas Gerais and Paraíba
With the global strategy to zero its carbon emissions by 2050, Shell Oil Company has been heavily investing in renewables and is focusing on photovoltaic energy in Brazil. The request made by the Dutch multinational assesses the installation of the Canis solar complex in the municipality of São João do Rio do Peixe, in Paraíba. The complex will consist of seven photovoltaic plants, with six having an installed capacity of 48.1 MW each and one with an installed capacity of 34.7 MW.
With these, Shell totals 31 requests for the installation of photovoltaic solar plants in Brazil, representing 1.423 GW of installed capacity, with 1.1 GW in Minas Gerais and 323.3 MW in the state of Paraíba. In the country, the oil company is also looking at the emerging offshore wind market.

The business strategy of Shell Brazil in Trading and New Energies will encompass the generation and storage of renewable energies and natural gas, trading and optimization, and sales to end consumers of integrated energy solutions under the Shell brand.
The businesses in generating and storing renewable electric energy and natural gas will be led by the Director of New Energies at Shell Brazil, Guilherme Perdigão Nascimento. Gabriela Oliveira will continue to be responsible for the development of renewable energy generation projects.
