Construction Company Sika Attended Brazil Windpower 2022 to Present Its Launches
Last week, the Brazil Windpower 2022 event took place, featuring the main theme “Wind Sector in Expansion and Allied to New Technologies: The Path to a Net Zero Future,” held at the São Paulo Expo. It was a highly successful event, bringing some of the leading names in the wind energy sector worldwide, including Sika.
The event featured Gil Bacelar, the business development manager for Latin America at Sika. Gil mentioned that Sika is a Swiss multinational company that produces and supplies chemical materials for construction. Regarding the wind market, Sika has a dedicated line of products for onshore wind turbine towers. Learn more!

Sika Has Several Units Spread Across Latin America with a Stronger Presence in Northeast Brazil
The company has branches throughout Latin America, and in Brazil, it has a strong hub in the Northeast region, specifically in Recife, which is close to wind farms. Gil Bacelar, the business manager at Sika, also points out that the company intends to expand its plants in the Northeast, aiming to strengthen support for the national wind energy sector.

In the Southeast region, Sika also has some companies due to its proximity to the blade production chain, which is very beneficial and optimizes processes. Bacelar further emphasizes that the company’s central thought is sustainability and the strengthening of renewable energies.
During the event, the exhibitor discussed the innovations that Sika brought to Windpower 2022.
“In the field of construction, we are working on several developments for polymers, which are added to the additives for concrete, greatly aiding in the reduction of water used in concretes that go into foundations and precast towers.”

New Launch SikaGrout®3350 Promises Greater Resistance for Onshore Wind Turbine Towers
During the event, Gil Bacelar mentioned some of the new products that Sika has launched in the market. One of the latest products is SikaGrout®3350. It is a type of precision grout for onshore wind turbine towers certified for ultra-high fatigue resistance. According to the data from Sika’s official sales site, this material exhibits an ultra-high final strength of over 120MPa.
It features rapid hardening and shrinkage-compensated free-flow. Thus, it achieves incredibly high initial and final strengths. However, SikaGrout®3350 has an application thickness that can vary between 20 to 500 mm, to offer good resistance for the foundations. This material was exclusively designed for onshore wind turbine towers made of steel and precast concrete.
Other very interesting features about the product include its good flowability, rapid strength development—even at low temperatures—and it comes ready to use. As such, the construction of the foundations becomes much quicker, more efficient, and safer.
Sika Announces Launch of Epoxy Products with Greater Resistance for the Wind Energy Sector
In addition to SikaGrout®-3350, Sika launched a new line of products made from epoxy resin. However, according to Bacelar, these materials have excellent physical and mechanical properties that contribute to greater resistance.
Among the main epoxy materials, Sika focuses on the structural adhesive based on epoxy resin, called Sikadur® Epoxy. In this sense, the manufactured material offers rapid hardening, excellent adhesion to concrete, mortar, and wood, and is compatible with foundation structures for onshore wind turbines.
Sikadur® Epoxy has medium flowability and allows for a good connection between the necessary structures for the stability of the towers. Additionally, the company offers the product at a great cost-benefit ratio, making it very attractive.
