The spots are being offered through the traditional Fuvest entrance exam, the main pathway to the university.
In total, there are 8,147 spots distributed across more than 180 courses, covering areas such as biological, exact, and human sciences, available in seven cities in the state of São Paulo.
The candidate has the chance to compete for courses spread across units in Bauru, Lorena, Piracicaba, Pirassununga, Ribeirão Preto, São Carlos, and, of course, São Paulo.
Fuvest Offers Opportunities for Different Candidate Profiles
The Fuvest selection process is the main gateway to USP, and the 8,147 available spots represent the largest offer of spots at the university.
These spots are divided to accommodate different candidate profiles:
- 4,888 spots for general competition;
- 2,053 spots reserved for candidates who completed high school in public schools;
- 1,206 spots reserved for self-declared black, brown, or indigenous candidates, also from public schools.
In addition to these, another 3,000 spots are offered by USP through the Enem-USP selection process and the Provão Paulista, which expands opportunities for students.
Registrations and Important Dates
Registrations for the Fuvest 2025 entrance exam opened on August 19 and must be completed by this Tuesday, October 8.
It is essential for interested parties to finalize the registration within this deadline, as well as the payment of the fee, which is R$ 211. Anyone who misses this date will be out of the competition to enter USP next year.
According to Fuvest, candidates who requested a fee reduction can already check if they were granted.
Those who received a waiver still need to register normally, also by October 8. All this information is available in the Candidate Area on Fuvest’s official website.
How the Entrance Exam Works
The Fuvest entrance exam consists of two phases. The first phase, which occurs on November 17, consists of a general knowledge test with multiple-choice questions.
Only the best-ranked candidates advance to the second phase, which will take place on December 15 and 16.
This stage includes an essay and specific tests according to the chosen course by the candidate.
For some courses, such as Music, it is also necessary to pass a specific skills test, which will be administered on December 9 and January 9, depending on the chosen career.
Thematic Guides to Help with Preparation
To facilitate the registration process and aid in career choice, Fuvest has made available four free thematic guides.
These materials can be downloaded from the official website and are divided into specific categories to assist candidates at each stage of the entrance exam:
- Inclusion Guide: covers affirmative actions and special conditions for taking the tests;
- Careers Guide: provides information about the available courses and possible careers for registration;
- Journey Guide: details the stages of the entrance exam, from registration to enrollment;
- Exams Guide: explains the format of the first and second phase exams, as well as specific assessments for certain courses.
These guides are extremely useful for candidates to prepare in the best possible way and avoid mistakes that could compromise their performance in the entrance exam.
Other Opportunities: Enem-USP and Provão Paulista
If you do not intend to take the Fuvest exam, there are still other options to enter USP.
The Enem-USP process, which uses the score from the National High School Exam, also offers places for candidates, being another gateway to the university.
The selection usually takes place in December, after the release of Enem scores.
Additionally, there is the Provão Paulista, a series of assessments aimed at students from municipal and state schools in São Paulo.
USP keeps part of its spots reserved for this process, increasing chances for public school students.
Attention to the Final Deadline!
