Service And Equipment Contracts For The Development Project Begin In 2019, Statoil Declares Asset Commerciality
Statoil marks first Carcará Oil and finalized the date for the first oil, an area of the pre-salt located in deep waters of the Santos Basin. The asset operated by the Norwegian oil company will begin operations between the end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024. Service and equipment contracts for the development project begin in 2019.
The plan is to install an FPSO in the area, with a capacity exceeding 100 thousand barrels per day of oil. The exact size of the unit and the number of wells in the system have not been defined. Studies currently being conducted assess the possibility of installing an FPSO ranging from 120 thousand barrels per day to 180 thousand barrels per day of oil. Statoil’s estimates indicate that the asset has a recoverable volume of about 2 billion barrels of oil equivalent.

After completing the test on the existing well, the rig will be relocated to the Guanxuma prospect, where a new exploratory well will be drilled, which should take three to four months. Carcará has already drilled three exploratory wells, and it is expected that more wells will be drilled by 2019, moving the oil and gas market in Brazil. Source: MSO Consulting Brazil
