BYD Unveils Its New Compact Electric SUV, The Yuan Up, Promising To Challenge Rivals Like T-Cross, Creta, And Tracker In The Brazilian Market.
BYD is growing rapidly in Brazil, and its latest launch, BYD’s affordable SUV, has arrived to revolutionize. The Yuan Up, a fully electric compact SUV, is the latest bet from the Chinese automaker to compete directly with well-established models like T-Cross, Creta, and Tracker.
With a modern design and cutting-edge technologies, the Yuan Up stands out in several aspects. Its construction utilizes BYD’s advanced 3.0 architecture, the same platform as other sophisticated models from the brand, such as Dolphin, Song Plus, and Seal. The car’s dimensions are impressive: 4.31 meters in length, 2.62 meters in wheelbase, 1.83 meters in width, and 1.67 meters in height, with a spacious trunk of 456 liters.
Design And Motor Of The BYD Yuan Up
The affordable BYD SUV does not disappoint visually. It features sporty bumpers, functional air intakes, and adaptable full LED headlights. On the sides, the aluminum roof rack and 17 or 18-inch wheels are highlighted. The rear is equipped with an integrated spoiler and interconnected full LED taillights.

Under the hood, the Yuan Up has a front electric motor with 177 horsepower, with 45 kWh batteries that ensure a range of up to 401 km. A second version with 95 horsepower, based on the Dolphin, is planned for future release, offering a range of 301 km.
Interior And Technology
Inside, the Yuan Up impresses with luxury finishes and generous interior space, comfortably accommodating five adults. Among the features, notable highlights include a panoramic sunroof, front seats with electric adjustments, wireless cell phone charging, digital climate control, and a multifunctional steering wheel. The multimedia center is a show in itself, with a 12.8-inch rotatable screen, wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, native GPS, and a high-definition 360-degree camera system.
Safety And Price
Safety is a strong point of BYD’s affordable SUV. The model includes collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control with stop and go function, among other features.
With competitive prices, the Yuan Up launched in China starting at 79,800 Yuans (approximately R$ 55,000 in direct conversion). In Brazil, prices are expected to range between R$ 150,000 and R$ 200,000, depending on the configuration, placing it between the Dolphin and the Yuan Plus.
Competition With T-Cross And Creta
In the Brazilian market, the Yuan Up is set to face giants like the T-Cross, which costs around R$ 180,000, the Hyundai Creta, priced at R$ 186,000, and the Honda HR-V Turbo, sold for over R$ 192,000. With its advanced features and attractive pricing, BYD’s affordable SUV is poised to capture a significant market share and become a reference among compact electric SUVs.
