Award Ceremony Takes Place in Houston and Will Feature Guests from the Global GEO Scene
April 2024 – TAG – Associated Gas Transporter S.A., which operates in the natural gas transportation sector through pipelines – will receive, on April 23, an unprecedented award at the “PODS Strategic Implementation Award” for the implementation of the PODS 7 model. Imagem Geosistemas – the official distributor of Esri, a leading American Geographic Information System (GIS) – was the strategic partner in this project. The event will take place in Houston, Texas (USA), home of the PODS Association.
About the Award-Winning Project
The winning project, Implementation of Geographic Information System – Data Modeling PODS 7.0, began with the analysis and diagnosis of TAG’s legacy data, involving the teams from TAG and Imagem Geosistemas working in synergy to identify patterns and improvements. After understanding the nuances of the business, the data model was customized to meet the specific needs and essential requirements of the project, with this phase benefiting from the business insights of team members and specialists whose insights were crucial in finding the perfect model. The team also worked on developing efficient workflows for data migration and loads, including automations for extracting and transforming the legacy database and loading it into the new model, ensuring agility and consistency. The initiative also included the creation of practical and intuitive solutions in the form of web and mobile applications, utilizing data already in the PODS 7.0 model.

Additionally, Imagem Geosistemas played a crucial role as an interface with the PODS Association, acting in the implementation of the environment, gathering requirements, implementing the model, migrating data, and developing the web and mobile applications.
As a result of the project, TAG is now recognized as an icon in Latin America and the world for best practices in implementing the PODS data model, belonging to a select group of operators capable of optimizing operations focused on asset registration and location, safety, regulatory and integrity management, land management, environmental services, and many others through a unified, integrated, standardized, and corporately accessible database.
“The implementation was carried out by over 200 pipeline operators from 38 countries, representing more than three million miles of assets and linear pipeline systems, including facilities, storage, and stations, in the last 25 years,” said Leandro Coutinho da Silva, Marketing Specialist at Imagem Geosistemas, representing the Oil & Gas vertical.
The PODS Association is a nonprofit organization, a leader in the global community in pipeline data standards and best practices, that promotes the PODS Strategic Implementation Award. In this edition, besides TAG, which presented a hard work on the new PODS 7 project, a recently launched model that supports related databases, including support for native spatial geometry data types, the entity also awards for “Volunteer of the Year,” “Innovation,” “PODS Migration,” “Service Company of the Year,” and “Operator of the Year.”
At this ceremony, Alexandra Maia Werneck Magalhães, GIS Administrator at TAG, will receive the award on behalf of the entire team.
