Decoration takes place in Houston and will be attended by guests from the global GEO scene

April 2024 – A TAG – Transportadora Associada de Gás SA, which operates in the natural gas transportation segment through gas pipelines -, receives, on April 23rd, an unprecedented decoration in the awards "PODS Strategic Implementation Award", referring to the implementation of the PODS 7 model. Image Geosystems – official distributor of Esri, American leader in Geographic Information System (GIS) – was the strategic partner in this project. The event will be held in Houston, Texas (USA), headquarters of PODs Association.

 About the award-winning project

The winning project, Implementation of Geographic Information System – PODS 7.0 Data Modeling, began with the analysis and diagnosis of legacy TAG data, counting on the work of the TAG and Imagem Geosistemas teams in synergy to identify patterns and improvements. After understanding the nuances of the business, the data model was customized to the specific needs and essential requirements of the project. This phase relied on the business vision of teams and professionals from specialized areas, whose insights were fundamental in finding the perfect model. The team also worked on developing efficient workflows for data migration and loads, including automations for extracting and transforming the legacy base and loading into the new model, ensuring agility and consistency. The initiative also included the creation of practical and intuitive solutions in the form of web and mobile applications, using data already in the PODS 7.0 model.

Furthermore, the Geosistemas Image also played a fundamental role in interfacing with the PODS Association, working on the implementation of the environment, gathering requirements, implementing the model, migrating data and developing applications websites e mobile devices.

 Due to the project, TAG now becomes a recognized icon in Latin America and the world in good practices for implementing the PODS data model, belonging to a select group of operators capable of optimizing operations aimed at registering and locating assets, security , regulatory and integrity management, land management, environmental services and many others through a unified, integrated, standardized and corporately accessible database.

 “Implementation has been undertaken by more than 200 pipeline operators from 38 countries, representing more than three million miles of assets and linear pipeline systems, including facilities, storage and stations, over the past 25 years”, counts Leandro Coutinho da Silva, Marketing Specialist at Imagem Geosistemas, representative of the Oil & Gas vertical.

A PODS Association is a non-profit, global community leader in pipeline data standards and best practices that promotes the PODS Strategic Implementation Award. In this edition, in addition to TAG presenting hard work on the project of the new PODS 7, a recently launched model that offers support for related databases, including support for native spatial geometry data types, the entity also awards awards for “Volunteer of the Year”, “Innovation”, “PODS Migration”, “Service Company of the Year” and “Operator of the Year”.

At this ceremony, Alexandra Maia Werneck Magalhães, GIS administrator at TAG, will receive the award on behalf of the entire team.
