The delay in the Tepor works, in Macaé
The Macaé new port project has been dragging on since 2016 and, only at the end of 2019, did it receive the Preliminary Environmental License, approved by the State Commission for Environmental Control (CECA) and Inea.
The document approved the location and design of the terminal and the next step was just the installation license for the start of works. The port was a longing for Macaé businessmen, as it meets the industry's demand to support oil and gas activities, as well as other logistics sectors.
The expected date for Tepor to start operations was in 2022 and to be full steam ahead in 2030, but due to the delay, the dates are now uncertain.
New Port in Macaé will cover an area equivalent to 6 million square meters
The land area of Tepor can reach up to 6 million square meters, with bonded warehouses and patios for storage.
The project includes two terminals, one for storing oil and the other for fuel, with a capacity of 420.000 cubic meters. The structure of Terminal A is 16,5 meters deep and includes two berths: one for moving liquids through pipelines to the onshore terminal and the other for receiving LNG cargo.
Terminal B is dedicated to the handling of oil, and will also have two berths, with a depth of 27 meters to receive VLCC vessels.
