Partnership Between Large Rockwell Automation and Multinational Bravo Motor Company Will Bring the First Lithium Battery Company in Latin America to Brazil

One of the largest global companies in the technology sector is Rockwell Automation, which has just announced its latest partnership with the large multinational Bravo Motor Company for an unprecedented achievement. This agreement will bring the first GigaFactory in Latin America for lithium battery manufacturing, which will supply the electric vehicle market in Brazil.

Bravo Motor Company is a California-based company renowned in the market for seeking new forms of mobility without carbon usage. This new partnership will stimulate the production of cutting-edge batteries, focusing on the circular economy. The significant event to finalize the agreement took place in Minas Gerais and was attended by John Miles, global director of Rockwell Automation, and Eduardo Javier Muñoz, CEO of Bravo Motor Company. Partnership Will Bring Advances in Battery and Electric Vehicle Technology in Latin America to Stimulate Local Production

The combination of expertise from both companies will combine important points for battery manufacturing such as digitalization, including integrated management, production optimization, and sustainability, using tools that measure efficiency, operational quality, and productivity. Rockwell Automation contributes its digital solutions to amplify the potential of processes, optimizing the stages.

To achieve this, the companies will leverage simulation, optimization, and augmented reality technologies, integrated with engineering and factory. The Brazilian market was chosen for a variety of factors.

“8% of Brazilian jobs are directly or indirectly linked to the automotive production chain, positioning Brazil as a strong global player. The future bet of the entire ecosystem is electrification, and therefore, the need for batteries adhering to this demand has become even more strategic. We chose the Brazilian market due to this capacity of people and for having strategic materials for battery production. And certainly, working together with strategic partners like Rockwell Automation, providing cutting-edge technologies, will bring even more accuracy to the projects”

Bravo Motor CEO States That the New Battery Factory Will Serve a Supply Chain That Already Has Demand

Bravo Motor Company has been operating in the United States since 2012 and has interacted and collaborated to develop lithium batteries beyond vehicles. Thus, it has access to materials and team expertise to operate in the segment.

Brazil and Latin America have a large market for electric vehicles, including taxis, buses, vans, and motorcycles, in addition to cars. The partnership between the two large companies can contribute to the market by producing lithium batteries as well as regional distribution vehicles to meet this demand.

“The partnership with Rockwell Automation will enable the establishment of a local supply chain and a battery factory that will not only produce our vehicles and energy storage systems but also the mass production of local electric and hybrid vehicles for other companies to which we will supply batteries.”

New Solutions Proposed by the Partnership Will Optimize the Electric Vehicle Production Chain in Brazil

Sustainability and the concepts of Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance are increasingly trending, and energy optimization is becoming more and more sought after. After all, the use of carbon-based fuels can diminish over the years, considering the effects of global warming, so often discussed by environmental specialists.

“Energy optimization has become a priority, as the concepts of ESG and sustainability are on the rise, especially in the context of decarbonizing the vehicle chain. Thus, we are positioning our products as tools for operational efficiency and productivity to ensure less consumption and more energy efficiency responsibly. Through our solutions, Bravo will be able to make factory operations faster or anticipate this market ahead of the competition”.”

Gustavo Lima, Strategic Accounts Manager at Rockwell Automation (2022)

According to Lima, the partnership will bring benefits to both sides, filling potential gaps in the companies, moving towards a promising and even faster future. However, the goal is for this new business model to expand and begin its operations in countries like the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

In other words, Bravo brings expertise in producing parts for electric vehicles, while Rockwell Automation brings in the technological solutions for process optimization. Thus, we will have even more powerful cars and batteries available for local purchase in Latin America.
