fuel ONS will not interfere with prices, says ICL

After meeting at Ministry of Mines and Energy, the general director of the Institute of Liquid Fuels (ICL) stated that the National Fuel System Operator (ONS) will not interfere in prices. This measure aims to maintain the stability and balance in the market of fuels in the country, ensuring transparency and justice for consumers and companies in the sector.

In another scenario, the market for oil there was a decline due to the appreciation of the dollar and American interest rates. This situation directly impacts fuel prices, influencing the market as a whole.

Finally, Petrobras announced a 2,1% reduction in average price of QAV for the month of November. Aviation fuel accumulated a drop of 14,5% throughout the year, reflecting the fluctuations and adjustments in the energy market.

For those interested in investing in solar energy, the average price for installing painéis solares in homes in Brazil was R$3,17 per watt-peak (Wp) in the third quarter of 2023, representing an 11% drop compared to the previous quarter, according to data collected by Solfácil. This cost reduction may encourage more consumers to adopt the solar energy as an alternative source of energy in their homes.

According to the research, the decrease in prices of painéis solares was influenced by the fall of the dollar compared to the real and the lower cost of international transport, which affected the transport of these panels. The Southeast region was the one that showed the biggest reduction, with 13% in the period analyzed. The most affordable projects in this region were identified in Espírito Santo, with a cost of R$2,90 per Wp. Acre recorded the lowest average cost of R$2,89 per Wp.

Acelen plans to implement a 161 MWp solar photovoltaic plant in the municipality of João Dourado, in Bahia, by 2025. This project will be developed in partnership with the investment fund Perfin and the company Illian, from the Electra Group, and will be linked to Mataripe Refinery. The company also signed a long-term contract to purchase self-production energy, including carbon credits resulting from the operation of the solar power plant.

Petrobras has plans to install a solar power plant photovoltaic plant with a capacity of 11 MW at the Gabriel Passos Refinery, located in Betim, Minas Gerais. This initiative is part of the company's efforts to diversify its energy sources and seek more sustainable alternatives to meet its electricity needs.

Sale of Integração Transmissora de Energia SA to the Canadian fund CDPQ

A Equatorial announced the sale of Integração Transmissora de Energia SA (Intesa) for R$396 million to the Canadian fund CDPQ, totaling an agreement of R$714 million, including the company's debt. Intesa is responsible for 695 kilometers of transmission lines in the states of Tocantins and Goiás, contributing to the expansion of the electricity sector in Brazil.

A EDP sold two transmission lines for R$2,7 billion to Edify Empreendimentos, a fund controlled by Actis, as part of its asset rotation strategy. The company remains interested in participating in the next auctions in the sector. Meanwhile, the Engie Brasil Energia acquired five solar parks from Atlas Brasil Energia Holding, in a transaction worth R$3,24 billion. The acquired assets are located in Bahia, Ceará and Minas Gerais, and have a total power of 545 MW.

After the meeting at the MME, the president of the Legal Fuel Institute (ICL), Emerson Kapaz, clarified that the creation of the National Fuel Distribution System Operator will not have an impact on price control.

Kapaz highlighted that there were concerns about possible interventions in fuel prices, as it is a free market. However, it became clear that this is not the objective of the MME, as stated in the note.

The proposal to create a new entity will be included in a bill, according to a statement made by Alexandre Silveira recently. The objective is to implement a monitoring system to combat tax fraud and adulteration, as advocated by the ICL.
