When choosing between the Honda Tornado 300 and the Yamaha Lander 250, the doubt is significant. With the launch of the new XR300L, the on-off-road motorcycle segment gains a new competitor. In addition to these, other options like the Sahara 300, Royal Enfield Scram 411, and Dafra NH 300 are also on the market. However, our focus will be on comparing Tornado and Lander, which have more items in common, according to motoo.

Engine and Power: Who Takes the Best?

In terms of engine, the Tornado 300 has an edge over the Lander 250. The XR300L is equipped with a 293.5 cc OHC single-cylinder engine, capable of delivering 24.8 horsepower at 7,500 rpm and 2.74 kgfm at 5,750 rpm when filled with ethanol. Meanwhile, the Lander 250 has a 249 cc OHC single-cylinder engine, producing 20.9 horsepower at 8,000 rpm and 2.1 kgfm of torque. The Tornado also features a 6-speed gearbox with assisted and slipper clutch, contrasting with the Lander’s 5-speed gearbox, which does not have that system.

Top Speed and Consumption: How Do They Perform on the Road?

The official data on consumption and top speed of the XR300L Tornado has not yet been released, but it is expected to be similar to that of the Sahara 300. In tests with the new XRE, the motorcycle showed a consumption of 30.3 km/l and a top speed of about 137 km/h. The Lander 250 has an approximate consumption of 30 km/l and a top speed of around 140 km/h. Therefore, in terms of economy and performance on the road, both are practically tied.

Suspensions and Comfort: Important Details

Both motorcycles come with 21-inch spoked wheels in the front and 18 inches in the rear. The XR300L has a front suspension with 245 mm telescopic fork travel, while the Lander has 220 mm of travel. In the rear, the Tornado offers 227 mm of travel, while the Lander has 204 mm. A standout feature of the Tornado is the 7-level adjustable rear shock, compared to the 5 levels of the Lander. In terms of comfort, the Tornado offers a seat more geared towards off-road, while the Lander bets on a more comfortable seat for asphalt.

Brakes and Safety: Who Stops Better?

Safety is a crucial point in choosing a motorcycle. Both are equipped with disc brakes on both wheels, but the Tornado 300 stands out with larger discs and ABS on both wheels. The Lander 250, in turn, has smaller discs and ABS only in the front. This can make a difference when facing difficult terrains or emergency situations.

Price and Market: Is It Worth It?

The Honda XR300L Tornado 2025 has a suggested price of R$ 27,690, while the Yamaha Lander 250 2024 costs R$ 25,790. The Fipe table for the Lander 0km is at R$ 27,353, but there is still no data for the Tornado, which arrives on the market in August. Despite the price difference, the Tornado 300 offers more features and performance, making it an interesting choice, even if a bit more expensive.

Tornado 300 or Lander 250?

When choosing between Tornado 300 and Lander 250, Honda stands out for its more powerful engine, longer suspensions, and more complete braking system. However, the Lander is a more affordable option with robust performance as well. If the price difference is not an issue, the Tornado 300 is the right choice. However, for those looking for economy, the Lander 250 remains an excellent option.
