Who Would Have Thought That The Sports Car Market In Brazil Would Have Such An Unexpected Turn? Toyota, Having Already Conquered Enthusiasts With The GR Corolla, Now Promises To Elevate The Adrenaline Of Speed Fans.
The Japanese giant surprised everyone by announcing it will bring to Brazil a compact that shares the powerful mechanics of its “big brother,” the GR Corolla, and promises to delight Brazilians with an impressive engine.
According to information from Quatro Rodas, the GR Yaris, scheduled to launch in the second half of 2025, will arrive in Brazil with a visual update that distinguishes it from the previous model.
Despite being a smaller sports car, the GR Yaris inherits the 1.6 turbo three-cylinder engine from the GR Corolla, capable of delivering no less than 304 horsepower and 40.8 kgfm of torque.

Jaecoo 7 with super hybrid SHS system exceeds 1,200 km of combined range with a 1.5 turbo engine, high-density battery, and intelligent energy management.
This robust configuration is complemented by all-wheel drive, ensuring impressive performance regardless of track conditions.
According to reports, the GR Yaris will be offered with two transmission options: a six-speed manual for purists and an eight-speed automatic, specially optimized for this sports car.
In Sport mode, the automatic transmission keeps the engine within the RPM range of 4,900 to 7,200, ensuring quick and precise responses.
The transmission management system is so sophisticated that it can “predict” the driver’s intentions, adjusting gear shifts like a professional driver would. This means that, on circuits, the automatic model may be even more agile than the manual, but without compromising daily use, as other driving modes are available to optimize drivability in different conditions.

Gazoo Racing Event: The Model In Action In Brazil
Toyota has already brought some units of the GR Yaris to Brazil, used exclusively for demonstrations at Gazoo Racing events, such as the recent Interlagos Festival.
These actions not only sparked consumer interest but also helped create anticipation around the official launch of the model, which promises to be a hit among sports car enthusiasts.

Design And Interior Of The Model: News And Enhancements
As revealed by Toyota, the GR Yaris will arrive in Brazil with its new front bumper, designed to accommodate the new coolers of the automatic transmission, as well as a redesigned rear bumper and taillights now integrated by an illuminated bar. These changes are not only aesthetic but also functional, contributing to the vehicle’s efficiency and aerodynamics.
Inside, the GR Yaris has also undergone significant improvements. A new centralized dashboard for the driver, with a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, provides a more engaging driving experience.
The seats have been repositioned 2.5 cm lower, enhancing the feeling of sporty driving. Additionally, the body rigidity has been increased with the addition of more welding points and improved suspension mounting, with more bolts in the shocks, to ensure that the car remains stable even under the most challenging conditions.
Expansion Of The Yaris Line: The Future In Brazil
According to experts, the launch of the GR Yaris will not replace the GR Corolla, which continues to be sold in Brazil with a starting price of R$ 416,990.
In fact, the arrival of the GR Yaris represents the second expansion of the Yaris lineup in the country, with the debut of the compact SUV Yaris Cross expected in the first half of 2025. This expansion reflects Toyota’s strategy to solidify its presence in the sports and utility segment, offering options that combine performance and versatility.
As Toyota prepares to launch the GR Yaris in Brazil, the hybrid market also remains vibrant. The BYD Song Plus, which was the best-selling hybrid in the country in the first half of 2024, will receive updates for the 2025 lineup. New features include improvements in the battery, engines, and infotainment systems, boosting competition in the SUV segment, especially in terms of performance and fuel economy.
Will The GR Yaris Conquer The Brazilian Public?
With these innovations, Toyota manages to remain competitive and relevant in the Brazilian automotive market. With the GR Yaris, the automaker bets on an audience seeking excitement in driving, without sacrificing reliability and the advanced technology that the Japanese brand has always offered.
