Toyota Corolla Cross Named The Most Fuel-Efficient SUV In Brazil By Inmetro, Leaving HR-V, T-Cross, And Nivus Behind. Discover The 10 Most Efficient SUVs And How The Corolla Cross Stands Out In Fuel Economy With Its Hybrid System.

In the world of SUVs, where interior space and robustness are essential, the Toyota Corolla Cross stands out as the fuel economy champion, leaving rivals like HR-V, T-Cross, and Nivus behind.

According to the updated ranking by Inmetro (National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology), the Toyota Corolla Cross leads the list of the most efficient flex zero-kilometer sports utility vehicles in the Brazilian market.

This title is especially significant in a segment that grows increasingly in the country, where consumers seek not only comfort and space but also energy efficiency.

Favorites Among Brazilians

The SUVs have won the hearts of Brazilians thanks to their spacious interiors and high ground clearance, ideal characteristics for facing the adverse conditions of Brazil’s streets and roads.

However, fuel economy is also a crucial factor in the purchasing decision for these vehicles. Attentive to this demand, Inmetro, through the PBE (Brazilian Vehicle Labeling Program), released its latest list of the most economical SUVs.

To determine the most efficient vehicles, Inmetro evaluates energy consumption in MJ/km (megajoules per kilometer) and km/l.

The tests are standardized and conducted under controlled conditions, allowing for a fair comparison of the efficiency of different models. Vehicles receive ratings that range from “A” for the most efficient to “E” for the least efficient.

Toyota Corolla Cross: The Economy Champion

The Toyota Corolla Cross, with its hybrid system, dominates the ranking. In the urban cycle, where the electric motor is activated more due to braking and deceleration, the Corolla Cross stands out with an energy consumption of just 1.31 MJ/km.

With a 1.8 flex hybrid engine and CVT transmission, it achieves impressive 17.8 km/l in the city and 14.7 km/l on the highway with gasoline. With ethanol, the numbers are also competitive: 11.8 km/l in the city and 9.7 km/l on the highway.

Other Efficient SUVs

In addition to the Toyota Corolla Cross, the Inmetro ranking includes other notable models:

Comparing Numbers

Each listed SUV has specifications that meet different consumer needs. While the Toyota Corolla Cross leads with its hybrid technology, models like the Fiat Pulse and Renault Kardian stand out for their balance between price and efficiency.

Energy efficiency is an increasingly relevant topic in the current context of sustainability and economy. Choosing an efficient vehicle not only represents significant savings for the consumer but also an important contribution to reducing pollutant emissions and the rational use of natural resources.

With so many options on the market, choosing the ideal SUV can be a challenge. And you, what factor do you consider most important when choosing an SUV: fuel economy, interior space, or technology? Leave your opinion in the comments!
