The 2025 Toyota RAV4, one of the best-selling Toyota SUVs in the world, is about to land with news that promises to attract even more fans. The renewed model, presented in Japan, brings strategic but targeted updates that reinforce its position as a reference in the segment.
The main change in the 2025 Toyota RAV4 for the Japanese market is in the drivetrain. Front-wheel drive (FWD) versions have been eliminated, and now all options of the SUV come exclusively with all-wheel drive (AWD). This applies to both gasoline and self-charging hybrid models, which will adopt the brand’s AWD E-Four system.
Visually, the SUV maintains its identity, but there are small adjustments. The hybrid model ditches the characteristic blue emblem, which is now replaced by a traditional pattern, along with the new HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle) logo on the rear hatch. For the plug-in hybrid model, there has been a change in the spare wheel, which is now made of steel instead of aluminum. Additionally, in the North American market, the plug-in hybrid version drops the name “Prime”, simplifying the nomenclature within the new global strategy of the Japanese brand.
