In a turn of events that promises to transform the daily lives of app drivers in Brazil, Uber has announced drastic changes to its vehicle policy for 2025.

Popular models such as the Hyundai HB20 and the Renault Sandero are among the cars that will be banned from the platform, leaving many drivers apprehensive about the future of their activities.

Uber Updates List Of Allowed Vehicles For 2025

Starting in January 2025, Uber will implement a new policy for allowed vehicles in its Comfort and Black categories.

The company has released a list of models that will no longer be accepted in these categories, aiming to raise the standard of comfort and safety provided to passengers. Among the vehicles that will no longer be accepted are:

  • Hyundai HB20 (hatch)
  • Renault Sandero
  • JAC Motors T6
  • Ford Focus
  • Peugeot 2008
  • Ford Territory
  • Caoa Chery Tiggo 3x
  • Audi RS7
  • Mitsubishi Pajero TR4
  • Citroën C5 and C4L
  • Land Rover Freelander
  • Honda CR-V
  • Suzuki Vitara
  • Peugeot 508 and 408
  • Ford Edge
  • Toyota Hilux and Corolla Fielder
  • Suzuki Grand Vitara
  • Renault Fluence
  • Lifan X60

The decision to exclude these models aims to keep pace with the evolution of the automotive industry and ensure that Uber’s premium categories remain attractive to passengers.

The company highlighted that the update seeks to maintain a high standard of quality, aligning with the expectations of users who choose services offering greater comfort and luxury.

Impact On Partner Drivers

For many drivers who rely on Uber as a source of income, the exclusion of popular models represents a significant challenge.

Vehicles like the HB20 and Sandero are widely used due to their cost-effectiveness and efficiency. With the new policy, these professionals will need to consider replacing their cars to continue operating in the affected categories.

The fleet renewal entails considerable investments, which may not be feasible for all drivers. Some may choose to migrate to the UberX category, which still has less restrictive criteria regarding allowed vehicle models.

However, this change may result in lower earnings, as UberX fares are lower than those of the Comfort and Black categories.

In light of the new requirements, drivers who wish to remain in Uber’s premium categories will need to invest in vehicles that meet the updated criteria.

Experts suggest some options that balance cost and benefits, providing comfort and economy. Among the recommended models are:

  • Fiat Cronos Drive: Known for its generous interior space and 525-liter trunk, the Cronos offers comfort for passengers and practicality for drivers. Equipped with an efficient engine, it is an option that combines performance and fuel economy.
  • Toyota Corolla: Recognized for its reliability and comfort, the Corolla is often highly rated by both passengers and drivers. Although the initial investment is higher, its durability and low maintenance costs can compensate in the long run.
  • Honda Civic: With an elegant design and spacious interior, the Civic provides a premium experience. Its reputation for durability and efficiency makes it a solid choice for those looking to operate in Uber’s higher categories.
  • Chevrolet Cruze: This midsize sedan combines comfort, technology, and performance. With a spacious trunk and good fuel economy, the Cruze can be an interesting alternative for drivers seeking an upgrade.
  • Nissan Sentra: Offering a comfortable interior and a range of safety features, the Sentra is another option to consider. Its efficient fuel consumption and competitive maintenance costs are positive points for drivers.

Repercussions In The App Transport Market

The update of Uber’s vehicle policy reflects a trend towards improving app transport services.

With increasing competition, especially from platforms like 99 and inDriver, Uber seeks to differentiate itself by offering categories with high standards of comfort and safety.

This strategy aims to attract an audience that values a superior travel experience, willing to pay higher fares for it.

However, the measure may also result in a temporary reduction in the number of drivers eligible to operate in the premium categories until they adapt to the new requirements.

Challenges And Considerations For Drivers

The transition to vehicles that comply with Uber’s new guidelines presents financial and logistical challenges for drivers. Before investing in a new car, it is essential to consider:

  • Acquisition Cost: Evaluate the investment needed to purchase a vehicle that meets Uber’s criteria, considering financing or leasing options.
  • Depreciation of the Current Vehicle: Understand the impact of the depreciation of the current car, especially if it is one of the excluded models, and how this will affect negotiations for trading it in for a new one.

Piada isso, só pode.
Como pode tirar o C4 Lounge e o Fluence, que são carros extremamente espaçosos e confortáveis e manter o Cronus. Qual a lógica disso?
“Entendem” muito de carro mesmo kkkkk
Que loucura

Mas o Fiat cronos continua? E aquela história de elevar o nível dos carros para atrair clientes que pagam mais? Vão pagar a mais para andar de Fiat? Só pode ser piada!
