The new Uber Woman function was created to make the use of the Uber transportation app more comfortable for women. In practice, the feature offers different ways to select women drivers when requesting a ride.
First, the passenger can directly choose the Uber Woman category on the app’s home screen. In this case, the system will search for a female driver available nearby.
If there are no drivers at the moment, the app itself asks whether the user prefers to wait longer or accept another driver.
Another possibility is to schedule the trip in advance. The option called Reserve Uber Woman allows rides to be booked at least 30 minutes in advance, facilitating travel planning.
Moreover, there is a third alternative. In the profile settings, the passenger can activate a preference for female drivers. With this feature enabled, the system will prioritize female drivers for UberX rides whenever they are available.
Uber Woman Also Allows Drivers to Choose Passengers
The new feature does not only benefit those requesting transportation through the app. Women drivers registered in Uber can also set the system to serve only female passengers.
This way, they can better control who enters the vehicle, increasing the sense of security while working. The option can be enabled or disabled whenever the driver wishes.
In practice, the functionality expands a feature that already existed on the platform. Since 2019, the program called U-Elas has allowed women drivers to filter rides requested exclusively by women.
