The Inauguration of the Thermoelectric Plant Reinforces Sergipe’s Prospects as a Development Hub in the Northeast
Sergipe is being considered a favorable state for business development and investment. Among other guidelines, the state has been relating very well to the proposal of the New Natural Gas Market, an initiative of the Federal Government.
Currently, Sergipe has the first private LNG terminal, which is part of the project for the Porto do Sergipe I Thermoelectric Plant, with up to 21 million m³/day of regasification capacity and the potential to meet large demands for LNG and natural gas.
Expectations are that the state of Sergipe will have, in the next decade, a large supply of gas to be utilized through the exploration and production of offshore oil and gas along the state’s coast.
