bp is ready to start drilling its first well in the Pau Brasil Block, in the Santos Basin, with the Valaris DS-15 drillship. Postponed until April 24, the activity will continue until June 25, at a daily cost of US$410.

The oil company bp has a busy schedule for the national oil and gas market in these first months of 2024.

Next month, the DS-15 drillship will begin drilling the first well in the Pau Brasil block, operated by bp in Santos Basin.

Initially planned for March, the activity had its start postponed until April 24, according to the latest update of the fleet report from the drilling company Valaris.

The bp drilling will be carried out by the DS-15 drillship, belonging to Valaris, under a contract that extends until June 25.

The daily rate for chartering the vessel is US$410, as announced by the companies.

O new well in the Pau Brasil block represents a milestone for bp's operations in Brazil, being one of the company's bets for the coming years.

Acquired in the 5th Sharing Round, in 2018, the area had bp as the winner, holding a 50% stake, in partnership with CNOOC Petroleum (30%) and Ecopetrol (20%).

In addition to Pau Brasil, bp operates as operator in several blocks across the country, with emphasis on SM-1500 in the Santos Basin, CM-793 and CM-755 in the Campos Basin, and BM-BAR-346 in the Barreirinhas Basin. .

With interests in other blocks, such as BM-BAR-3, BM-BAR-5, CM-477, Dois Irmãos and Alto de Cabo Frio Central, the company reinforces its presence in the national exploration scene.

Furthermore, the partnership established with CNOOC Petroleum and Ecopetrol reinforces international cooperation in the development of these reserves.

Now, with the drilling of the first well in the Pau Brasil Block approaching, bp is preparing to expand its presence in Brazil with the help of the DS-15 drillship.
