Vivo Puts Into Operation Its First Solar Plant in DF

Always aiming for the best social and environmental practices, Vivo inaugurated its first solar plant powered by 100% renewable energy in DF.  The solar plant will be built and operated by the solar energy company Athon Energia, with a capacity of approximately 4.824 MWp.

The distributed generation from Vivo’s new solar plant will serve not only the regions of DF but also over 500 other units across Brazil.

“The implementation of a solar plant in DF and in other regions where Vivo operates is extremely important; we want to advance further in the distributed generation of renewable energy, especially solar energy. With this plant, we will generate both economic and social benefits, environmental benefits, and many others for the community,” stated Vivo’s Asset Director, Caio Guimarães.

Vivo’s project for the creation of new solar plants will reduce its energy consumption by more than 80%. Currently, the company is already utilizing solar energy in over 28,000 of its locations.

Thus, in addition to contributing to the environment by being renewable and low-impact, this measure should generate significant annual savings in energy costs.

About Athon Energia

Athon Energia was born to provide high-quality energy, cleanly and sustainably, to Brazilian society. They seek to accelerate the transformation of the energy matrix by increasing the share of renewable sources. The focus will essentially be on Solar Energy, as it is the most pressing opportunity they see at the moment.

They offer their clients:  Cost reduction through a sustainable, reliable, and low-risk generation model in the long term.  Benefits of a lower price compared to conventional energy obtained from the local distributor. Self-sufficiency and cost-efficiency by producing electricity in distributed mini-generation units.
