Volkswagen Unveils The Transporter Flatbed DoKa, A Pickup Larger Than The Amarok With An Electric Motor Of Up To 286 Hp, 600 Km Range And 736 Kg Bed
Volkswagen surprised the European market by revealing, almost without fanfare, a model that could change the way the brand operates in the utility segment. This is the Transporter Flatbed DoKa, a new pickup based on the latest generation of the Transporter – traditionally known for being a line of vans – but now also taking on a configuration with double cab and open bed, ready to face urban daily life and commercial use.
The most interesting part is that the novelty isn’t limited to a single engine proposal. The new pickup from Volkswagen comes with diesel versions as well as 100% electric, expanding the options to cater to those seeking range for long distances and companies that wish to transition to zero-emission vehicles.
Larger Than The Amarok With Generous Bed
Although it carries the “transformed van look” due to its base derived from the Transporter, the Transporter Flatbed DoKa impresses with its dimensions. It measures 5.61 meters in length and has a wheelbase of 3.5 meters – numbers that make it longer than the Amarok, the medium pickup from Volkswagen itself.

This extra length translates to a bed that measures 2.17 meters in length and 1.94 m in width, with a usable area larger than what is found in traditional medium pickups.

In practice, the payload capacity is not the highest in the segment: the diesel version supports up to 736 kg, while the electric version can carry 785 kg. Despite this, the proposal is clear: it is not meant to be a “farm pickup,” but rather a versatile solution for urban transport, commercial use, and services.
Wide Range Of Engines, Including An Electric One With 286 Hp
The engine range of the Volkswagen Transporter is varied. In diesel, the well-known 2.0 turbo engine appears in two power levels: 110 hp and 150 hp, and can be combined with a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission, with front or all-wheel drive.
However, it is in the electric line that the model truly stands out. There are three power levels: 136 hp, 215 hp and up to 286 hp in the strongest version. The latter delivers more than 41 kgfm of instantaneous torque and a range of up to 600 km in the European cycle, surpassing the performance of combustion models.
The electric system positions Volkswagen against competitors like Fiat Ducato Electric and Renault Master E-Tech, offering a utility vehicle capable of combining payload capacity and zero-emissions engine.
Functional Design, But Ready For Customization
The appearance of the Transporter Flatbed DoKa follows the standard of the Transporter line. There are no adventurous adornments or Pan Americana version, as seen in other Volkswagens. The wheel options are simple: 16-inch steel or optional alloys of the same size.
Those who want a more robust look can turn to specialized modifiers, like Delta 4×4, which already offers customization kits with reinforced bumpers, larger tires, and even lifted suspension, transforming the pickup into something closer to an Amarok off-road.
How Much It Costs And When It Arrives
In Germany, the prices for the new pickup start at € 46,586 (around R$ 267,000) for the simplest diesel version, reaching € 56,648 (R$ 325,000) for the more equipped configurations. Electric models start at € 62,128 (R$ 356,000) and go up to € 66,316 (R$ 380,000).
For now, Volkswagen has not confirmed the launch in Brazil, but the move makes sense: the Amarok will remain as a “root” medium pickup, while the Transporter Flatbed DoKa can fill a space aimed at companies and fleets looking for an alternative with a larger usable cargo area.

The Volkswagen Transporter Flatbed DoKa is not just another variant of the Transporter: it’s a new pickup that combines practicality, space, double cab, diesel engines, and electric options with up to 286 hp and 600 km of range.
Larger than the Amarok and with a bed that promises to make life easier for those in need of a functional utility, the novelty elevates VW to a new level in the cargo vehicle segment. Now, the question remains: will we see the Transporter Flatbed DoKa on Brazilian streets?
