Volvo’s Charging Infrastructure Plan
In addition to the interest-free installments for electric cars, the company recently began the second phase of expanding Volvo charging stations in other states in Brazil. Brazil is still making progress regarding infrastructure for electric vehicle charging; however, there is no denying that the charging network is growing over the years, as is the increase in electric car sales in the Brazilian market.
The company provided some data in March that shows the current scenario, where there are 1000 AC charging stations in urban convenience locations in Brazil, such as supermarkets, dealerships, shopping malls, among others.
The infrastructure of Volvo itself includes over 43 DC chargers at the company’s dealerships, along with another 13 DC charging points located on highways in Cajati (SP), São Sebastião (SP), Botucatu (SP), São Carlos (SP), Oliveira (MG), Pouso Alegre (MG), Ubatuba (SP), Taubaté (SP), Cubatão (SP), Jacareí (SP), Leme (SP).
Volvo Charging Stations Can Offer 150 kWh
In this second phase, Volvo’s electric car stations are expanding to other states outside the São Paulo – Minas axis. Thus, charging points are planned in the cities of Angra dos Reis, Paraty, and Cabo Frio (RJ), Imbaú (PR), São José and Balneário Camboriú (SC), Campo Alegre de Goiás and Anápolis (GO), in addition to Nova Mutum and Rondonópolis (MT).
Although it has not been revealed, it is quite likely that all these Volvo charging stations are fast chargers of 150 kWh, like the other 13 stations announced in the previous phase of expansion. These are 150 kWh chargers that can charge up to 80% of a Volvo XC40’s battery in 40 minutes.
