Contract Will Ensure Wärtsilä Provides Maintenance Services for Six Vessels of Sapura Navegação, Which Carry Its Engines.
The Sapura PLSV fleet will now be under the care of Wärtsilä. The companies signed a contract, and from now on, the six flexible pipe support and laying vessels of Sapura will have their maintenance program managed by Wärtsilä.
Wärtsilä will monitor and maintain the equipment of the vessels, all of which are in service for Petrobras. There will be two contracts between the two companies, one for parts and another for the provision of local services.
The maintenance contract involves a total of 34 engines and 42 thrusters from the Finnish manufacturer that are installed in this fleet.
Sapura expects to extend the operational period of the vessels with general overhauls and flexible maintenance intervals.

As the manufacturer of the engines, Wärtsilä holds product engineering data and also ensures immediate replacement of parts and monitoring via Data Analyses, which will extend maintenance and even dry-docking of the vessels.
Sapura’s maintenance manager, Fábio Gervasio, stated that with maintenance carried out by Wärtsilä, “It will be possible to perform interventions only when necessary, resulting in reduced operational costs, which makes it possible to postpone major maintenance, such as dry-docking.”
