WEG Recently Announced the Development of a New 7 MW Machine, Unique in the Wind Energy Market

The large multinational is always seeking innovations. In this sense, the company has a prototype of a new wind turbine with a unique capacity of 7 MW and promises to revolutionize the wind energy market. However, this wind turbine has a rotor measuring 172 meters, and the prototype is under development and is expected to be operational by December 2023, according to João Paulo Silva, WEG’s director.

According to Silva, this machine will be one of the largest operating in Brazil’s wind energy sector. Currently, the company already successfully operates with 4.2 MW machines and aims to extend this success to the developing prototype.

Multinational WEG Has Its Own School to Provide Technical Education to Future Professionals in the Wind Energy Sector

The multinational WEG takes pride in having its own “school” for 40 years. This has provided training to numerous young people and adults to work in the wind energy sector. However, WEG School trains technicians in mechanics, chemistry, electrical engineering, and electronics.

Director João Paulo Silva also emphasized the importance of this initiative for education at both national and global levels. After all, WEG adopts a range of educational initiatives. In this regard, the multinational invests in training courses around the world.

“We have our own school for 40 years, the WEG School, which trains technicians in mechanics, chemistry, electrical engineering, and electronics. This is very important because we train young people from regular schools.”

Who Is the Multinational WEG?

Initially producing electric motors, WEG expanded its activities starting in the 1980s, developing electromechanical components, automation products, power and distribution transformers, liquid and powder paints, and electrical insulating varnishes. The company has established itself not only as a manufacturer of motors but also as a provider of complete industrial electrical systems with significant innovations such as the 7 MW wind turbine.

In recent decades, the company has invested in wind turbines, hydropower, and steam turbines to expand its product portfolio, especially in renewable energy. WEG has always prioritized the maintenance and installation of wind farms throughout the country and hydropower turbines, always employing local teams to ensure greater safety.

Moreover, the company holds a responsibility for sustainability and seeks to present innovative solutions for the wind energy sector.

“Brazil has the potential to be a producer of clean energy, low-cost energy, and attract further investments from the base industry: steel and aluminum production,” emphasized João.
