WEG seeks daily to serve the market for equipment that is increasingly technological. In addition to wind turbines, the company recently supplied transformers to the giant Eletrolux and to a steel company in Maranhão

WEG, one of the largest manufacturers of electric motors in the world, with a broad portfolio for renewable energy generation, has sought to innovate and make increasingly technological equipment available to the market. For the wind turbine segment (aerogenerators) the company has been betting on artificial intelligence to plan the predictive maintenance of equipment. The solution works through cloud computing and is based on data collected remotely.

The application combines the WEGnology® platform and Artificial Intelligence from BirminD, a WEG Group company. Artificial intelligence receives various data from wind turbines (wind turbines) in real time, processes this information using BirminD's automachine learning solution, which tests dozens of algorithms automatically seeking the best performance, delivering as a result the prediction (future state) of variables of interest to the team that monitors the equipment.

In short, the product communicates in real time with the wind turbines (wind turbines) and detects potential maintenance needs in advance, triggering the demand for early diagnosis and corrective action, avoiding losses in the availability of wind turbines. Using data associated with the solution developed by WEG, it is possible to anticipate situations that influence the availability of the equipment, which may reflect in generation gains.

The solution is at an advanced stage of validation, before being made available to the wind turbine market (aerogenerators). It can be applied in other segments such as: prediction of overtemperature in inverters, furnace efficiency, extruder cycle time, energy consumption, production demand and many other applications.

Supply of dry transformers will allow the expansion of Electrolux's energy capacity

Electrolux do Brasil SA, a company in the home appliances and small appliances segment, aims to expand its energy capacity, for new technologies that are being implemented at the unit. For this to happen in a safe and effective way, ensuring competitiveness in the manufacturing process, the customer purchased two dry transformers at 34,5/11,9kV of 15MVA power. Both parts will be delivered during the month of June 2021, at the São Carlos (SP) unit.

This equipment will power loads connected to more than ten 11,9kV voltage class transformers distributed throughout the Electrolux plant. The differential of these large dry transformers is the configuration with an IP-54 enclosure, resistant to weather use, in addition to providing low installation costs and ease of maintenance.

Consequently, this improvement will bring benefits such as reliability in the manufacturing process and savings in energy costs. The consistency of quality in energy distribution will avoid voltage peaks caused by the 11,9kV supply directly from the local network, complying with ANEEL's requirements for customers with demands above 5MW.

WEG supplies transformer to power the ladle furnace in a steel company

A steel company entrusted WEG with the challenge of carrying out an improvement, with the objective of bringing gains in electrical power, and consequently, increasing the factory production capacity. To carry out this project, it was necessary to maintain the same existing space, with an increase in nominal power, due to the limited size of the room where the transformer will be installed. Leaving from Santa Catarina, the 14,4MVA transformer, with a nominal current of 26kA at 13,8kV, will be transported to Maranhão, with an expected arrival in June 2021.

The equipment will be essential for the customer in powering the ladle oven, replacing the existing transformer with a nominal power of 8,4MVA with a nominal current of 19kA, now with a power of 14,4MVA and a current of 26kA. This change ensures greater production capacity, resulting in more competitiveness for the customer.
