Interest in used cars up to R$ 50 thousand reveals a preference for durable models with simple maintenance and high liquidity in Brazil, highlighting well-known vehicles in the market with a consolidated resale history.

The Volkswagen Gol remains the most sought-after used car under R$ 50 thousand in Brazil, according to a survey by Webmotors Autoinsights based on searches and visits recorded on the platform between March 2025 and February 2026.

This leadership reinforces the staying power of a model that has been discontinued but remains strong in the market due to its known maintenance, wide availability of parts, and high liquidity in resale.

In the closed balance of 2025, the hatch also ended the year as the best-selling used car in the country, according to consolidated data from Fenauto.

Ranking of the most sought-after used cars in Brazil

Following the most sought-after are Honda Civic, Fiat Palio, Fiat Uno, and Ford Fiesta, which helps explain the profile of Brazilian consumers in this price range.

Instead of prioritizing novelty, the search remains focused on cars with a known history, predictable maintenance, and good turnover in the secondary market.

The ranking also includes Honda Fit, Ford Ka, Chevrolet Celta, Hyundai HB20, and Volkswagen Fox, all names already established in the used segment.

In the case of the Civic, its reputation for durability helps sustain demand, especially among buyers willing to slightly upgrade their standards of finish and comfort without sacrificing mechanical reliability.

Still, the term “unbreakable engine” should be understood as market reputation, not as an absolute guarantee.

In any used car with high mileage, what really defines the purchase is the maintenance history, provenance, and the condition of the car at the time of evaluation.

Why the Volkswagen Gol leads among used cars

The Gol’s leadership helps summarize the behavior of the sector.

It is a car produced for decades, present in all regions of the country, and widely known by independent workshops, dealers, and buyers.

This history facilitates the replacement of parts, reduces the perception of risk for buyers, and supports a simpler resale than many competitors.

In the used car market, these factors often weigh as much as consumption, performance, or equipment level.

The second place of the Honda Civic shows a slightly different but equally relevant trend.

The sedan retains image value, has a loyal audience, and is still associated with mechanical robustness and a more refined ride.

Palio, Uno, and Fiesta appear because they combine popular appeal, abundant supply, and maintenance costs that the average buyer knows well.

In other words, the top of the ranking combines two clear groups: rational models with high circulation and a mid-sized sedan with a consolidated reputation.

This picture also confirms the strength of compact cars in the Brazilian market.

Among the ten most sought-after, most are hatchbacks that have had a massive presence on the streets for many years.

This favors both the supply of units and competition among workshops and parts suppliers, factors that directly influence ownership costs.

Even the HB20, newer than some rivals on the list, benefits from this logic due to its already wide national presence.

Table of the most sold used cars in 2025

To facilitate visualization, the table below shows the 10 most sold used cars in Brazil in 2025, based on numbers released by Webmotors from data from Fenauto.

The Gol stands alone in the lead, with a wide advantage over the second place, the Chevrolet Onix.

PositionModelUnits sold in 2025
1Volkswagen Gol814,347
2Chevrolet Onix451,249
3Fiat Strada445,079
4Hyundai HB20438,522
5Fiat Uno421,529
6Fiat Palio420,982
7Toyota Corolla317,002
8Ford Ka306,358
9Ford Fiesta284,403
10Chevrolet Celta266,721

The comparison between the two snapshots helps to better understand the market.

Not always does the most sought-after car in a specific price range fully coincide with the overall sales ranking, because the criteria are different.

The Webmotors list considers public interest in used cars up to R$ 50 thousand, while the best-selling ranking gathers the total volume of transactions for the year.

Still, there is an important convergence: Gol, Uno, Palio, Ka, Fiesta, and Celta appear strongly in both scenarios.

What to evaluate before buying a used car

Even with a good market reputation, no used car should be purchased solely based on its name.

Highly sought-after cars tend to have heated demand precisely because they seem like safe choices, but this does not eliminate risks of deferred maintenance, auction history, poorly repaired collisions, or problematic documentation.

In older models, evaluating suspension, clutch, leaks, cooling system, and signs of structural wear is often decisive.

High mileage alone does not disqualify a vehicle; the care history weighs more.

In the case of the Gol, the main attraction remains predictability.

The Civic maintains appeal by offering a step up in comfort and finish, although it requires extra attention to the actual state of preservation and the cost of parts in some versions.

Palio, Uno, Fiesta, Ka, and Celta remain among the most natural choices for those looking for a car familiar to mechanics and easy to resell.

The used car market reminded us of this throughout 2025, when the sector hit 18,508,929 units traded, a historical record and a 17.3% increase over 2024, according to Fenauto.

The final reading of the numbers is straightforward: the Brazilian consumer continues to reward predictable cars, with more understandable maintenance and a consolidated circulation history.

It is this set, more than fashion or novelty, that keeps the Gol at the forefront of demand and also explains why so many veteran compacts remain strong in national transfers.
