The Xiaomi S40 Pro robot vacuum has arrived in Brazil with 15,000 PA of suction, extendable rotating mops, a tangle-free brush without blades, and wet cleaning that removes stains with pressure higher than that of the S20 Plus, all for a price that no competitor in the same range can match in the Brazilian market
Xiaomi hit the mark with the launch of the S40 Pro in Brazil. The robot vacuum hit the market with 15,000 PA of suction power, almost triple the 6,000 PA of the S20 Plus, which was a huge success in the country. In addition to the raw power, the model features extendable rotating mops, a tangle-free brush without blades, and a wet cleaning that leaves the floor visibly clean even after drying. All this for a price in the range of R$ 2,000, a value that no direct competitor can beat with equivalent specifications.
The S40 Pro is a model without a self-cleaning base, which explains the more accessible price. Still, Xiaomi delivered technologies that until recently were exclusive to high-end robots. The 360° LiDAR laser navigation, the structured light obstacle detection system, and the 5,200 mAh battery complete a technical package that is hard to find in this price range. The question remains whether the robot delivers in practice everything that it promises on paper.
What’s in the box and what is the first impression of the Xiaomi S40 Pro

The Xiaomi robot comes in white with a matte finish, without glass or shine, which is positive because it resists scratches better in everyday use. In the box, it includes the manual in Portuguese, the charging adapter with Brazilian standards (no need for an adapter), and the charging base, which maintains the same design as previous models from the brand.

Goodbye plastic in water: teenager creates a filter that removes 95.52% of microplastics, reuses 87.15% of magnetic ferrofluid, and rivals traditional systems in a compact high-efficiency home prototype.
The water tank has a capacity of 310 ml, slightly larger than that of the S20 Plus, and the dust container holds 430 ml, a generous volume for a model in this category.
The construction of the robot conveys robustness. The parts have a finish of superior quality than expected for the price range.
The mop cloths are thicker than those of the Xiaomi S20 Plus, a noticeable difference to the touch. The filter of the dust container is also visibly larger, which contributes to more efficient filtration during vacuuming.
15,000 PA of suction: what changes in practice compared to the S20 Plus
The number that stands out the most in the Xiaomi S40 Pro is the suction power of 15,000 PA, powered by a 160 W motor. For comparison, the S20 Plus operates with 6,000 PA and 55 W, which means that the new model has almost triple the suction capacity.
In practice, the difference does not manifest so drastically on smooth floors with common dirt, but it clearly appears in the collection of larger grains, fine debris, and especially in vacuuming carpets.
A negative point that persists in this model and in other Xiaomi robots is the rear air outlet. The air jet is strong enough to spread some light dirt around the robot during vacuuming.
The recommended solution is to set the app for two passes: on the second, the robot collects what may have been spread during the first. Despite this, the raw power of 15,000 PA places this Xiaomi model in a category that no competitor in the same price range can reach in Brazil.
Xiaomi S40 Pro vs S20 Plus: direct comparison
| Specification | S40 Pro | S20 Plus |
| Suction power | 15,000 PA | 6,000 PA |
| Motor power | 160 W | 55 W |
| Water tank | 310 ml | Smaller |
| Dust tank | 430 ml | Smaller |
| Battery | 5,200 mAh | Similar |
| Extendable mops | Yes (new design) | Non-extendable |
| Tangle-free brush | Yes (with combs) | Basic |
| Mop elevation on carpet | 10 mm | Limited |
The tangle-free brush from Xiaomi that eliminates the need for blades
One of the most surprising highlights of the S40 Pro is the tangle-free system. The central Y-shaped brush eliminates the need for blades and features combs positioned above the brush and before the dust container entry.
These combs untangle 100% of hair in the path between the brush and the tank, preventing it from accumulating and jamming the mechanism.
The side brush has also been redesigned by Xiaomi with a curved shape that prevents tangling and is extendable, reaching the edges of walls to collect corner dirt. In tests, even after collecting a large amount of hair, no strands got caught in the central or side brush.
This is a significant improvement over previous Xiaomi models and a real differentiator compared to competitors that still rely on cutting blades to solve the problem.
The wet cleaning that surprised with extendable rotating mops
The wet cleaning is where the Xiaomi S40 Pro has evolved the most compared to the S20 Plus. The larger water tank ensures a more efficient liquid output from the first pass, without jamming and without the need to wet the cloths before starting.
The rotating mops spin at 180 rpm, applying greater pressure on the floor and removing even tougher stains with visibly greater ease than the previous model.
Another important advancement: the mops are extendable, with a longer extension mechanism than the older Xiaomi models, allowing them to fully reach the walls and edges.
The result is a floor that remains visibly clean even after drying, something rare in robots in this price range. The app offers three adjustable water levels, and the mops automatically elevate up to 10 mm when detecting carpets and rugs.
Navigation, battery, and obstacle detection in the Xiaomi S40 Pro
The navigation uses 360° LiDAR laser, the same system present in other Xiaomi models, and delivers mapping with good precision. The map is generated in about 8 to 9 minutes and allows room editing, floor type indication, and rug location.
The 3D map becomes available after the first complete cleaning. The 5,200 mAh battery supports continuous cleaning of up to 180 m², slightly higher autonomy than that of the S20 Plus.
The structured light obstacle detection system operates with a 129° field of view and efficiently avoids objects, navigating around them without touching in most cases. It is not a top-of-the-line sensor, so very low dirt, loose wires, and very small objects may not be detected.
The Mi Home app is in Portuguese and allows you to schedule tasks, create custom cleanings, order two passes, and configure all functions of the Xiaomi robot simply and intuitively.
The negative points you need to know before buying
Despite the impressive set, the Xiaomi S40 Pro has limitations that need to be mentioned. The robot occasionally exhibits navigation bugs: sometimes it re-passes already cleaned areas, takes disorganized routes, or bumps into furniture.
For the price range, these slips are considered normal, but those seeking millimeter precision should look to higher category models.
Another relevant point is that Xiaomi does not offer official warranty in Brazil for this model, which means that consumers need to purchase extended warranty on sales platforms if they want protection against defects.
The brand has a reputation for durability, but the lack of official technical assistance is a risk factor that each buyer must evaluate before placing an order. Available only in white, the model also does not please those who prefer dark options.
The S40 Pro consolidates Xiaomi’s position as the brand that delivers the most technology per real invested in the Brazilian robot vacuum market.
With 15,000 PA of suction, extendable rotating mops, an efficient tangle-free brush, and wet cleaning that leaves the floor spotless, the model surpasses the S20 Plus in all aspects and finds no direct rival in the same price range.
