Yamaha Model Stands Out for Affordable Price and Robust Engine, but Faces Criticism for Some Recurring Issues Among Owners

The Yamaha Lander 250 is one of the most sought-after trail bikes in Brazil, holding the second position in sales in the segment. In 2024, 46,690 units were registered, a significant figure, although still far from the 155,055 units of the Honda Bros 160.

This popularity is due, in part, to its good price positioning, becoming a more powerful and accessible alternative for those looking for an off-road capable motorcycle.

Launch and Features of the Lander 250

Recently, the Lander underwent a facelift in the 2025 line, receiving new features including a LED headlight with projector, a new fender, and updated fairings.

Despite the aesthetic improvements, the engine remains the same: a single-cylinder of 249 cc, offering 20.9 hp of power and 2.1 kgfm of torque, paired with a five-speed sequential transmission.

The current price of the Lander is R$ 28,590.

The Lander 250 stands out for its robust and functional design, ideal for off-road practice and urban rides. It is equipped with a chassis that provides good stability, along with suspension that offers good travel, ensuring comfort on rough terrains.

The motorcycle’s weight, which is around 145 kg, is considered balanced for a motorcycle of this category, allowing the rider agile and safe handling.

Main Issues Faced by Owners

Although the Yamaha Lander 250 is praised for its robustness and fuel economy, some recurring issues have been reported by owners, especially in models manufactured from 2020.

Among the most common complaints, oil leakage due to the failure of the front fork seal stands out.

This part, usually made of latex, is responsible for containing the oil, and its failure can lead to serious issues in the suspension.

Another point of concern is the ease with which external parts suffer from the effects of rust.

The wheel rims, which are made of iron, are particularly vulnerable, but there are also reports of rust on the motorcycle frame.

Additionally, the rear wheel hub is mentioned as a component that may crack, raising concerns among owners.

Plastic parts and decals have also shown issues with fading and scratches.

Furthermore, some users report that the lighting system, although modern, could be more powerful, especially in low visibility conditions.

This aspect is important for those who use the motorcycle on trails or poorly lit roads.

Positive Aspects of the Lander 250

Despite these criticisms, the overall assessment of the Yamaha Lander 250 tends to be more positive.

Fuel economy is one of the most admired characteristics, with many users reporting that the motorcycle can exceed 30 km/l and even reach 35 km/l in urban journeys.

This efficiency is a significant attractor for those who use the motorcycle as a daily means of transport.

The performance of the Lander is also highlighted, especially in cities, where its agility allows riders to navigate through traffic easily.

However, the absence of a sixth gear in the transmission is a point that can be felt on highways, where drivers report that the lack of this gear makes high-speed riding less comfortable.

Additionally, maintenance costs are considered low. The Lander has parts that are easily found in the market, making repairs and replacements easier.

The robustness of the 250 cc engine allows the motorcycle to handle potholes and road irregularities with ease, making it a reliable option for those seeking a motorcycle for off-road adventures.

The Role of the Lander in the Brazilian Market

The Yamaha Lander 250 positions itself as one of the most viable motorcycles in Brazil, especially for those who wish to explore both urban environments and off-road trails.

Its combination of affordable price, robustness, and fuel economy makes it a popular choice among Brazilian motorcyclists.

Additionally, Yamaha has invested in after-sales services and technical assistance, which is essential for customer loyalty.

The brand promotes events and meetings for owners, creating a community around the model and strengthening the relationship with consumers.
