According to the state-owned company, the reason for the oil spill was due to a problem in the pipeline connected to the main refining center.
The clean-up plan for removing oil from the Caribbean Sea is being carried out by PDVSA together with the Venezuelan Ministry of Ecosocialism. The state-owned company guaranteed that there will be no shortages for the Paraguaná refining center, nor for the refineries amuay and Cardon.
The leak had already been alerted since last Thursday by opponents and defenders of the environment. Activists used social networks to disseminate satellite images that showed the area affected by oil leaks from the pipelines. (With information from AFP).
“Crime in Golfete de Coro, here is the origin of the leaks”, denounced Eudis Girot, an oil trade unionist, on Twitter on Thursday, with a video recorded by fishermen in the region that shows the stain in the sea.
