The Projects That Will Receive Investments in Rio de Janeiro Are in the Areas of Infrastructure, Security, Health, Education, and Much More
On Friday, August 13, the government of the state of Rio de Janeiro launched an investment program that will be directed to all 92 municipalities in the state. Named “Pacto RJ,” the forecast is that the project will allocate R$ 17 billion for actions in all social areas, generating approximately 150,000 direct and indirect jobs over the next three years. The Projects for the Development of the State of Rio de Janeiro
Areas such as infrastructure, health, education, culture, the environment, and public safety will be contemplated, with the latter including the expansion of the Present Security Program and increased police presence on the roads. The projects, which aim for the social and economic recovery of the state of Rio de Janeiro, with actions in all 92 municipalities, also benefit investments in technology and programs for the protection of the elderly and women.
The resources from the Plan, called “Pacto RJ,” will come from the state budget and from the auction of Cedae – State Company of Water and Sewage – held in April. The expectation is that the actions will generate more than 150,000 direct and indirect jobs. Among the works are a surface metro line in Baixada Fluminense; recovery of the Alemão Cable Car in the North Zone of Rio; and construction of an exclusive bus corridor in São Gonçalo in the Metropolitan Region.

The Program Aims at Economic Growth, Job Creation, and Combating Poverty

The President of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro, met with representatives of 11 business groups from various segments in the state of Rio de Janeiro to present new projects and jobs that may assist in the economic recovery of the state. The Rio Productive Movement, of which the business groups are part, presented a letter to the president that cites projects in the shipbuilding, oil, gas, infrastructure, and other sectors.
During the Rio Productive Movement meeting, a letter was delivered by President Angela Costa – ACRJ (Commercial Association of RJ) to President Jair Bolsonaro. This letter cites the diagnosis of the shipbuilding, oil, and gas industry in the state of Rio de Janeiro, pointing out pathways to generate thousands of jobs in the short term.
The letter states that it is known that the state of Rio de Janeiro still has the largest hub of shipbuilding installations, offshore repair in Brazil, and has ideal conditions to establish the largest offshore park for decommissioning platforms and dismantling their structures.
