Influenza Vaccination Campaign 2026 mobilizes the population with expanded structure, quick service, and focus on the most vulnerable groups before the increase in cases
The Municipal Health Department (SMS) of Curitiba begins, this Saturday (3/28), the 2026 Flu Vaccination Campaign. The action starts with a Day D that expands the population’s access to vaccination points.
The Municipal Social Communication Department (Secom) released the information and reinforced the alert about the importance of vaccination before the period of greater circulation of the influenza virus.
At this first moment, the campaign calls for 463,607 people from the routine priority public. The group includes people aged 60 and over, children from 6 months to 5 years, and pregnant women. According to the municipal health secretary, Tatiane Filipak, the strategy aims to protect the most vulnerable before the increase in cases.

The largest piece ever transported by road in the UK was a gigantic oven, measuring 26.5 meters long and 18 meters high. It even required road closures. It came from Thailand, crossed the sea, traveled by barge, and advanced at 6.4 km/h with a full closure of the M53 during a nighttime operation.
In addition, the campaign will continue until May 30, gradually expanding service to other priority groups.
Structure with drive-thru and open units ensures quick access to vaccination
Curitiba has organized a reinforced structure for Day D. The city offers 9 drive-thrus that exclusively serve the elderly and people with disabilities. This format speeds up service and reduces waiting time.
At the same time, 19 health units operate from 8 am to 5 pm. In these units, professionals serve the elderly, pregnant women, children, and other priority groups. In addition to the flu vaccine, the teams offer all vaccines from the national schedule.
However, the Covid-19 vaccine for children aged 5 to 11 will not be available. The Ministry of Health has not yet sent this immunizer.
Starting Monday (3/30), vaccination will reach 109 health units in the city. This way, the population gains more options to get vaccinated.
Who should get vaccinated and why vaccination is essential at this moment

The campaign also includes several special priority groups. Among them are postpartum women, indigenous peoples, quilombolas, and homeless people. Additionally, it includes people with chronic diseases, disabilities, teachers, and health professionals.
Truck drivers, public transport workers, and port workers, as well as postal workers, are also included. The campaign also serves incarcerated individuals and young people aged 12 to 21 under socio-educational measures.
In total, about 700,800 people can get vaccinated in Curitiba.
Recent data reinforces the urgency. In 2024, the city recorded 52 deaths from the flu. In 81% of cases, the victims had not been vaccinated. In 2025, there were 51 deaths, with 75% of patients not receiving the vaccine.
Therefore, vaccination reduces severe cases, hospitalizations, and deaths.
Vaccine protects against three strains and requires attention to guidelines
The SUS offers a trivalent vaccine that protects against influenza B, influenza A H1N1, and influenza A H3N2. This combination ensures protection against the main circulating variants.
However, some cases require attention. Children under 6 months cannot receive the vaccine. People who have had a severe anaphylactic reaction should also avoid vaccination.
To get vaccinated, citizens must present identification. In special cases, it is also necessary to prove the priority condition.
Additionally, this is an ideal time to update the vaccination card, especially for children and pregnant women.
