The Fields of Bahia, Ceará, and Espírito Santo Will Benefit from Tax Incentives Granted by Sudene During the Coming Months. 3R Petroleum Plans to Expand Oil and Natural Gas Exploration in the Fields with the Support of the Organization.
The oil and natural gas company 3R Petroleum started the year 2023 with great news for the coming months and is on this Thursday, (01/05), preparing to expand its operations. This is because the company has secured new tax incentives from the Superintendence for the Development of the Northeast (Sudene) for the exploration of fields located in Bahia, Ceará, and Espírito Santo. The main benefit was the reduction of the IRPJ tax for a period of 10 years.

The year 2023 promises to bring great improvements and expansions in the oil and natural gas exploration sector, with the arrival of a new administration in the Federal Government, as well as new names in the ministries.
The oil company 3R Petroleum has already begun this new phase by securing significant tax incentives to make its production even more effective in some regions of the country.

The company announced that new tax incentives have been granted by the Superintendence for the Development of the Northeast (Sudene), an agency linked to the Ministry of Regional Development, for some of its fields.
They are the Recôncavo, Fazenda Belém, and Peroá hubs, located in the states of Bahia, Ceará, and Espírito Santo, respectively.
Both the Recôncavo hub in Bahia and the Fazenda Belém hub in Ceará comprise onshore oil and gas fields. The Peroá field is located in an offshore area of Espírito Santo state.
Currently, Sudene encompasses all the states of Maranhão, Piauí, Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Sergipe, and Bahia, and operates partially in the states of Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo.
According to 3R Petroleum, the main benefit of the tax incentives offered by Sudene for exploration of the fields was the reduction of the Corporate Income Tax by 75% for a period of 10 years.
Thus, the decision will lower the combined IRPJ and Social Contribution rate from 34% to as low as 15.25% for the exploration and production of oil and natural gas in the fields.
“The company emphasizes that the classification of the Recôncavo, Fazenda Belém, and Peroá hubs adds to the approval of the incentive already granted for the Macau, Rio Ventura, and Areia Branca hubs, all under 3R’s operation. As soon as the operational transition processes for the Pescada and Potiguar hubs are completed, the Company will request the classification of these projects for the Sudene tax incentive,” highlighted 3R’s financial director, Rodrigo Pizarro.
