Five Luxury Cars That Seem Unreachable, But Cost R$ 55–85 Thousand in 2025 — Volvo V40, Grand Cherokee, Audi A4, Mercedes CLC 200 and Jaguar XF

In the used market of 2025, it is possible to find rich people’s cars with prices ranging from R$ 55 thousand to R$ 85 thousand. These are vehicles from premium brands, featuring eye-catching designs and complete equipment packages that convey status and sophistication. However, the warning is clear: the cheap part is only in the initial purchase.

Maintenance costs, expensive parts, and high consumption can turn owning these models into a financial challenge. For those who get carried away by the price tag without considering the recurring costs, the “opportunity” can quickly turn into a headache.

Volvo V40 – Discreet Luxury with Demanding Maintenance

5 'rich people's cars' appear for R$ 55 thousand to R$ 85 thousand in the used market, but the cheap part is only in the purchase: maintenance, parts, and consumption can be alarming

The Volvo V40 from the 2013 and 2014 models appears in the market between R$ 60 thousand and R$ 70 thousand, with some listings reaching R$ 85 thousand. The premium hatchback stands out for its safety features, including automatic braking, collision warning, stability control, and multiple airbags. In terms of mechanics, there are 1.6 and 2.0 turbo versions, with power up to 180 hp.

The average consumption is around 7.5 km/l in the city and 10 km/l on the highway. Despite the attractive price, the critical point is maintenance: parts and services do not have prices comparable to popular cars like Gol or HB20. It’s cheap to buy, but not to maintain.

Jeep Grand Cherokee – Strong Presence, Alarming Consumption

5 'rich people's cars' appear for R$ 55 thousand to R$ 85 thousand in the used market, but the cheap part is only in the purchase: maintenance, parts, and consumption can be alarming

The Jeep Grand Cherokee 2012 is a large SUV, with 4×4 traction and an imposing look. In the market, it can be found for around R$ 72 thousand to R$ 74 thousand. The most common engine is the 3.6 V6 with 286 hp, but there are even more powerful versions with V8 engines.

The problem is the consumption: about 4.5 km/l in the city and 6.4 km/l on the highway. Additionally, this generation’s 5-speed automatic transmission is considered outdated. This is a car designed for those who value presence and comfort but don’t mind spending a lot on fuel.

Audi A4 – Executive Sedan with Fame and Risks

The Audi A4 2010 appears with prices starting at R$ 55.5 thousand in São Paulo, reaching up to R$ 60 thousand. It’s an executive sedan, known for its refined finish and good set of equipment, with 2.0 turbo engines being the most common.

The average consumption is 8.8 km/l in the city and 12.4 km/l on the highway. Despite the good entry cost, the model carries the reputation of having “chronic problems” in units without regular maintenance history. For those seeking presence and comfort, it might be worth it, provided the car undergoes a thorough inspection and complete servicing.

Mercedes CLC 200 – Accessible Coupe, but with Limitations

The Mercedes-Benz CLC 200, produced between 2009 and 2011, can be found for prices between R$ 55.9 thousand and R$ 59.9 thousand. The model features a 1.8/2.0 turbo engine with up to 184 hp and high-quality interior finishing, often including a sunroof.

Despite the seductive price and coupe style, the car has limitations: the rear seat is cramped and the older design requires attention to the overall condition. Original Mercedes parts also increase maintenance costs, making the car less practical for daily use.

Jaguar XF – Maximum Luxury with Corresponding Costs

The Jaguar XF 2009 is one of the most sophisticated sedans that can be found for prices between R$ 75 thousand and R$ 85 thousand. The interior features leather, advanced multimedia for its time, premium sound, and bi-zone climate control. There are versions with a 3.0 V6 engine and even a high-performance 5.0 V8.

However, the consumption is alarming: 6 km/l in the city and 10 km/l on the highway. The luxury image is undeniable, but the maintenance costs align with high-end cars, with expensive parts and labor. This is a car for those who can afford ownership, not just the purchase.

Is It Worth Buying a Used “Rich Person’s Car”?

The major advantage of these rich people’s cars is the strong depreciation, which places them in a price range comparable to new popular vehicles. On the other hand, maintenance, consumption, and availability of parts can negate any initial savings.

Experts always recommend conducting a thorough inspection, checking history, recalls, and consulting part availability before making a purchase. In summary: it’s worth it for the luxury and presence, as long as the buyer is prepared for recurring costs above the average.

And you, would you dare to have one of these rich people’s cars knowing the maintenance and consumption costs? Do you think it’s worth flaunting by paying less at the purchase but more at the workshop? Leave your opinion in the comments — we want to hear from those who have lived this experience.
