It’s no coincidence that the Corolla is a sales and trust phenomenon. The ninth generation, known as “Corolla Brad,” is one of the most robust cars ever manufactured in Brazil and a true war tank.

  • Why is it a good choice? Its mechanics are legendary. The 1.8 flex engine (1ZZ-FE) uses a timing chain, eliminating the need for the costly timing belt replacement. Owners report driving over 300,000 km without needing to open the engine. The suspension is robust and maintenance is extremely simple.
  • Average price (July 2025): Between R$ 40,000 and R$ 48,000.

2. Honda Civic (2007-2011)

The eternal rival of the Corolla, the “New Civic” of the eighth generation, revolutionized the market with its futuristic design and continues to be an excellent purchase. It combines Honda’s reliability with a more sporty driving experience.

  • Why is it a good choice? Like the Corolla, its 1.8 flex engine (R18A) also uses a timing chain and is known for its durability. It’s a car with a very low incidence of chronic problems and a very reasonable maintenance cost for a mid-size sedan.
  • Average price (July 2025): Between R$ 35,000 and R$ 45,000.
