Governor Romeu Zema participated in the groundbreaking ceremony of the first can factory of Ambev Brewery in Sete Lagoas, Central Region of the State. More than R$ 700 million will be invested in the works.
The plant is expected to initially meet the demands of the breweries in Sete Lagoas and Juatuba, as well as part of the operations in the Southeast region.
The environmental licensing process for the venture was analyzed and approved by the State Secretary of Environment and Sustainable Development (Semad).
The governor also highlighted the positive results achieved by Minas in generating new job openings.
“From day one, I told my secretariat: you do not work for me, but for the people of Minas. I think we are taking another step here because this represents what we want. What I want most is to participate in events like this. And it seems that what we are already doing has shown concrete results. In the first six months, Minas Gerais generated 88,000 new formal job openings,” he concluded.
The CEO of Ambev, Bernardo Paiva, highlighted that the project will help meet the increasing volume in Brazil and the choice of Minas Gerais for the first can factory of a beverage company in Brazil.
“We have a lot of faith in Minas; it is a state that not only attracts investments but also makes the environment friendly for entrepreneurs to come here, invest, create jobs, and create value for everyone, not just for the company. We want to partner with the state, want to invest for the long term, and we want this investment to generate value for society as a whole. This security of investing in a state like Minas Gerais, with the quality of government we have here, is very important so that not only these investments are made, but future investments as well,” emphasized the brewery’s president.
