State Investment Transforms The Waterfront of Itanhaém With New Sports Structure, Enhanced Drainage, and Event Space, Expanding The Tourist Potential of One of The Most Visited Beaches in Baixada Santista and Strengthening The Local Economy Based on 26 Kilometers of Coastline and Dozens of Waterfalls.

The waterfront of Cibratel I Beach, in Itanhaém, on the coast of São Paulo, received a revitalization funded by the State Government with R$ 4,116,261.15, an amount fully invested in urban interventions and the implementation of leisure facilities aimed at residents and tourists.

The delivery of the new space was scheduled for a Friday, February 13, 2026, under an agreement signed through Dadetur, a state program of support for tourist municipalities linked to the Department of Tourism and Travel.

The project redesigned the waterfront section with drainage and retention works, as well as improved public lighting and reorganization of the walkway, in an effort to enhance both the infrastructure and the daily use of the area in front of the sea.

The interventions include the execution of drainage for water runoff, installation of curbs and gutters, and the construction of a new public walkway, with paving services and road signage to organize traffic around the beach.

Government of SP invests R$ 4.1 million in the revitalization of the waterfront of Cibratel Beach, in Itanhaém, with new sports and urban structure.

Along with the package, the municipality received improvements in electrical lighting and landscaping, in addition to retention works, in a set that transforms the landscape and seeks to reduce urban problems that tend to intensify in coastal areas.

At the same time, the revitalization created permanent structures for staying and resting, with urban furniture, showers, and drinking fountains, as well as a building planned for restrooms and administrative support, according to information released by the São Paulo government.

Sports Courts, Skatepark, and Pump Track Enter The Leisure Agenda

The new configuration of the waterfront incorporated sports facilities that now share space with the sandy area, including courts for sports such as beach tennis, volleyball, and beach soccer, as well as areas for basketball and social spaces.

Among the announced attractions are a skate park and a pump track, a circuit format mainly used by cyclists and roller sports practitioners, in addition to a playground, pergola, and a square planned to host events.

Equipment aimed at different audiences was also included, such as an outdoor gym focusing on the elderly, shaded areas, and stays, a strategy that tends to increase foot traffic throughout the day, even outside the high season.

In statements about the work, the state government described the set as a “new tourist facility” and associated the intervention with a goal of expanding leisure options at one of the most frequented beaches in the municipality.

Agreement Through Dadetur and Schedule Released

The agreement that enabled the revitalization was signed in December 2023, with state resources, information that appears in public notes about the project and helps explain the execution period until the space delivery.

The city hall and official local channels announced the inauguration as the delivery of the Orlando Bifulco Sobrinho Linear Tourist Park, the name used in institutional publications to announce the date and time of the event at Cibratel I.

This type of structure, in a linear format and with multiple uses, usually concentrates leisure, sport, and movement in the same stretch, which can alter the neighborhood dynamics and redistribute tourist traffic beyond traditional points.

Beach and Nature Tourism Boosts Itanhaém

The revitalization is part of a strategy to strengthen tourism in Itanhaém, which claims to have 26 kilometers of coastline divided into 14 beaches, figures often cited in official tourist promotion materials from the state and the municipality itself.

In addition to the appeal of sun and sea, the city also associates its image with ecotourism, by informing that a significant part of the territory preserves the Atlantic Forest integrated with the Serra do Mar State Park and gathers around 50 waterfalls.

In this combination, urban beaches and natural areas function as complementary attractions, with routes that include trails, waterfalls, and viewpoints, alongside more structured sections of the coastline, where the offering of services and leisure is usually greater.

Historical Heritage Extends Stay Duration

Itanhaém also promotes circuits linked to history and religiosity, with points visited by those looking for tours beyond the waterfront, including locations associated with the presence of historical figures and traditional temples of the city.

Among these attractions, the Cama do Anchieta frequently appears as a point of interest, while churches and memorial spaces help compose an urban itinerary that, in practice, extends the stay of visitors.

With a requalified waterfront at Cibratel I and the promise to integrate leisure, sports, and events in the same space, what kind of use should the population and tourists prioritize for the new stretch to function well all year round?
