At 34, NBA Player Reggie Bullock Invested in a Private Island in Belize, Caribbean, and Started Building a Luxury Resort with Full Structure, Including Villas, Main Mansion, and Basketball Court.

At 34, NBA forward Reggie Bullock completed the purchase of an island in Belize, in the Caribbean Sea, and started building a private resort with a main house of about 4,000 sq ft and eight villas for accommodations.

Public records and international reports indicate that the transaction involved an approximate value of US$ 2 million (about R$ 10 million, according to current exchange rates) for an area of five acres, equivalent to just over 20,000 sq m.

The location has been named Bullock Island.

According to information released by the athlete himself and reproduced by foreign media, the project aims to combine family living and tourist enterprise.

Videos posted on official social media show that construction is ongoing and that the space is expected to operate as a high-end resort after the structure is completed.

Structure and Location of the Enterprise

Bullock Island is located near Placencia, a peninsula in southern Belize known for tourism and crystal-clear waters.

The location is about 20 minutes by boat from the mainland.

According to promotional material, the resort will feature one main mansion, eight independent villas, infinity pool, restaurant/bar, spa, and basketball court.

Recent publications from the enterprise indicate that the units are at different stages of construction.

Sources close to the project have reported that the island is expected to operate as a “private island resort,” a concept aimed at accommodating small groups, with personalized services and controlled access.

So far, there is no official confirmation regarding the opening date or accommodation rates.

Value and Confirmed Dimensions

According to real estate records and American reports published in 2023, the purchase was made for US$ 2 million, and the island spans five acres, around 20,000 sq m.

Some publications mentioned values in euros or higher figures, but this information does not appear in official records.

The title of “colossal island,” used in some international articles, refers to the property’s size in comparison to other private enterprises owned by athletes, although Belize hosts private islands of varying dimensions.

Career and Social Engagement

Originally from Kinston, North Carolina (U.S.), Reggie Bullock began his professional career in 2013 when he was drafted by the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round of the NBA Draft.

Since then, he has played for teams such as Phoenix Suns, Detroit Pistons, Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks, Dallas Mavericks, and Houston Rockets.

In 2021/22, he received the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Social Justice Champion award, granted annually by the NBA to athletes who excel in social justice efforts.

The recognition came for his involvement in projects focused on the LGBTQIA+ community and gender violence prevention campaigns.

Bullock’s public engagement gained notoriety after the deaths of his sisters, Mia Henderson, a transgender woman murdered in 2014, and Kiosha Moore, killed in 2019.

Since then, the player has participated in awareness initiatives and support programs for victims of violence, according to information from the NBA itself.

Objectives and Current Stage of Bullock Island

In interviews, Bullock stated that the investment represents a long-term project, intended for family and future generations.

He mentioned being inspired by luxury properties in Belize and emphasized the desire to “create something lasting”, in his words.

Luxury real estate market specialists assert that the acquisition of private islands by high-income athletes has become more common in recent years, both as an investment and as a diversification strategy.

According to the latest updates published by the official profile of the enterprise, construction is nearing completion, and the resort has not yet started commercial operations.

Available information indicates that the location will host groups of guests in a limited format, but the exact accommodation capacity — estimated at 40 people by some publications — has not been confirmed by the project’s administrators.

Belize, an English-speaking country with an approximate population of 400,000, has seen an increase in foreign investment in tourism and hospitality.

According to local government data, the sale of small islands and cayes (reef formations) for private use has been growing since 2019, driven by incentives for sustainable projects and interest from American investors.

Experts consulted by international media state that Bullock’s case reflects this trend, especially among athletes seeking ventures with tourism potential.

The project, according to these sources, also benefits from the athlete’s personal marketing and the visibility he maintains on social media.

Bullock Island is still under development and has not yet released information about reservations, rates, or the start of operations.

So far, the only public confirmations relate to the purchase of the island, the size of the property, the dimensions of the main house, and the construction of the eight villas.

Based on this context, the enterprise is set to expand the map of luxury investments in the Caribbean and reinforce the presence of celebrities in the private tourism sector.

When the resort begins to receive guests, it will remain to be seen whether the model of a private island with limited access will become a new trend among players and international investors.
