The Updated Yangwang U7 Luxury Electric Sedan from BYD Redefines the Market with a 150 kWh Blade Battery That Allows for a Range of More Than 1,000 Kilometers, Combining Extreme Power of 1,287 Horsepower and Advanced Assistance Technologies to Challenge Global Premium Competitors.

Yangwang has updated the U7 BEV sedan with a new 150.01 kWh battery, allowing for a range of 1,006 km. The vehicle has 960 kW of power and aims to dominate the luxury segment with technology and efficiency.

New Battery Technology and Extended Range

Yangwang continues to push limits in the luxury electric vehicle segment with the updated U7 BEV. The premium brand from BYD aims to dominate the high-end category through technology.

The latest information reveals that the top-of-the-line electric sedan will receive a significantly larger battery option. This move positions the model among the electric cars with the longest range ever announced in the industry.

One of the most notable improvements of the Yangwang U7 is the introduction of a massive 150.01 kWh Blade battery. The component utilizes the Blade lithium iron phosphate technology developed specifically by BYD’s engineering team.

This battery allows for a claimed range of up to 1,006 km in China’s CLTC testing cycle. The extended energy capacity marks a significant milestone for the usability of electric vehicles over long distances.

A second battery option with a capacity of 135.5 kWh will also be available for consumers of the brand. This alternative offers an impressive range of approximately 497 miles in a combined vehicle testing cycle.

The value corresponds to about 800 km of total range on a single full charge. While combined cycle values are generally optimistic, these numbers remain exceptional for a luxury sedan.

Weight Engineering and Vehicle Dynamics

The engineering focus appears to be on balancing energy density and vehicle dynamics. The manufacturer sought to maintain drivability even with the significant increase in energy storage capacity of the car.

The larger 150.01 kWh battery weighs approximately 926 kg installed in the vehicle’s structure. This component is only slightly heavier than the 135.5 kWh battery offered as a secondary option.

The smaller capacity battery weighs about 903 kg, resulting in a minimal mass difference. This suggests that BYD has optimized packaging and structural integration to maintain unchanged dynamic performance.

The strategy aims to ensure drivability while significantly increasing overall range. The sedan maintains its sporty driving characteristics despite the additional weight imposed by the new LFP battery pack.

Propulsion System and Supercar Performance

The Yangwang U7 is powered by an advanced electric propulsion system consisting of four distinct motors. The technical configuration includes a permanent magnet synchronous motor installed at each wheel of the electric vehicle.

The combined power of the system reaches approximately 960 kW at its maximum force delivery. This number equates to about 1,287 horsepower, placing the sedan in supercar performance territory.

This mechanical configuration enables precise torque vectoring and enhanced traction in various situations. The individual control of each wheel optimizes power delivery to ensure stability and safety at high speeds.

The current U7 already accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 2.9 seconds. It is expected that the updated battery options will maintain similar performance levels, allowing for longer journeys between necessary recharges.

The vehicle reaches a top speed of nearly 270 km/h according to the current technical specifications. The combination of range and speed reinforces the model’s position in the global luxury electric vehicle landscape.

Dimensions and Interior Space Configurations

The design and proportions of the updated Yangwang U7 remain unchanged in this new version. The sedan measures exactly 5,265 mm in length, ensuring a visually imposing and sophisticated presence on the streets and highways.

The vehicle’s width is 1,998 mm, and the total height reaches 1,517 mm. These external dimensions contribute to the robust and aerodynamic aesthetic necessary to achieve the desired energy efficiency.

The car has a long wheelbase of 3,160 mm on its structural platform. This feature emphasizes the available interior space and maximizes comfort while driving for all occupants of the cabin.

Buyers can choose between four or five-seat configurations at the time of purchase. The U7 can function both as an executive sedan for private drivers and as a traditional family car.

Driver Assistance and Market Positioning

Technology continues to be one of the main attractions of the U7 in today’s automotive market. The vehicle is equipped with the advanced DiPilot 600 driver assistance system, developed in-house by BYD’s team.

The system is also commercially known as “God’s Eye A” in the company’s portfolio. The technology integrates multiple LiDAR sensors to enhance perception and enable semi-autonomous driving features in different scenarios.

The intelligent DiSus-Z suspension system uses electromagnetic actuators to continuously adapt. The mechanism adjusts to road conditions, improving both driving comfort and the stability needed at high speeds.

The Yangwang U7 has been positioned as a flagship model since its launch in March 2025. It represents BYD’s highest level of innovation, challenging already established luxury brands globally.

The vehicle’s price remains remarkably competitive in its segment despite the high technology onboard. The strategy offers exceptional specifications at a lower entry cost than direct competitors in the industry.

The updated U7 reflects the rapid progress of the electric vehicle industry in China. The addition of the 1,000 km battery strengthens BYD’s confidence in the premium segment of the global automotive market.
