The Model Debuts in São Paulo Promising to Launch the High Luxury Phase of the Chinese Brand in Brazil, Delivering Power, Autonomy, and Technology Previously Unseen in the Segment

As the 2025 Auto Show approaches, manufacturers around the world begin to confirm their major bets. The BYD, a Chinese giant that has been dominating the electric and hybrid vehicle market, has just revealed one of the most awaited launches of the event: the Denza B5, a luxury plug-in hybrid SUV with an adventurous flair and impressive numbers, ready to compete directly with the GWM Tank 300 and Jetour T2.

According to the website Autos Segredos, the model will be sold in Brazil starting in 2026, initially in the GS DM version, marking the definitive entry of BYD into the premium segment. The official price has not yet been confirmed, but estimates indicate something close to R$ 500 mil, positioning the Denza B5 as one of the most sophisticated options among luxury electrified SUVs.

Measuring 4.89 meters long, almost 2 meters wide, and weighing 2.9 tons, the Denza B5 impresses right from the start. Under the hood, it brings a 1.5 turbo gasoline engine with 197 hp, which works together with two electric motors. The total output reaches 680 horsepower and 77.5 kgfm of torque, ensuring performance worthy of sports cars.

According to data released by the manufacturer itself, the SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds, showing that luxury can coexist with high performance. Additionally, the combined autonomy is one of its greatest attractions: it offers 125 km in 100% electric mode, according to the Chinese CLTC cycle, and up to 1,200 km when the hybrid system is used alternately.

This autonomy positions the Denza B5 as one of the electrified SUVs with the longest range in the global market, surpassing European and American rivals.

Off-Road Capability and Extreme Luxury

But it is not just in the city that the Denza B5 aims to stand out. The BYD equipped the SUV with features aimed at off-road use — among them, a ground clearance of 31 cm and approach and departure angles above 30°, making it capable of tackling rough terrains with the same ease it glides through urban avenues.

Moreover, the model features three differential locks, all-terrain tires, and tow hooks, reinforcing its adventurous vocation. Inside, luxury is evident in every detail: there are three digital screens, including a 15.6-inch multimedia center and an additional screen exclusive for the front passenger.

The dashboard also includes a head-up display equivalent to 50 inches of projection, a premium sound system, and refined finishes, with high-quality materials and a minimalist design.

Heavy Rivals: GWM Tank 300 and Jetour T2 in Sight

The Brazilian market for hybrid and electric SUVs is becoming a true battleground among Chinese brands. The arrival of the Denza B5 promises to intensify this competition even further, directly confronting two heavyweight opponents: the GWM Tank 300 and the Jetour T2, both already confirmed for Brazil.

The GWM Tank 300 comes with a plug-in hybrid system that combines a 2.0 turbo engine at the front with two electric motors, one on each axle. The total output delivers 408 hp and 76.5 kgfm of torque, ensuring high performance both on and off the road. With smart 4×4 traction, the SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds, a respectable time for a model weighing over two tons.

The Jetour T2, considered the most adventurous among rivals, bets on a robust design and generous dimensions. It measures 4,785 mm long, 2,006 mm wide, and 1,880 mm high, being only slightly smaller than the Land Rover Defender 110, which reinforces its vocation for heavy off-roading.

Under the hood, the T2 is equipped with a 2.0 turbo gasoline engine with 254 hp and 39.8 kgfm of torque, coupled with a seven-speed dual-clutch automated transmission and all-wheel-drive. The package delivers enough power to tackle trails and uneven terrains while maintaining ride comfort on long journeys.

The New Era of Chinese Luxury SUVs

The entry of BYD Denza into this segment represents more than just a new launch — it symbolizes the consolidation of China as a global automotive power. The Denza B5 arrives not only with impressive numbers but with a clear proposal to <strongcompete with European and Japanese luxury brands, combining sophisticated design, performance, and green technology.

Moreover, BYD plans to create its own network of Denza dealerships in Brazil, offering a differentiated purchasing and after-sales experience. The focus will be on premium service and customer experience customization, similar to what brands like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Audi have been doing for decades.

For the Brazilian audience, the Denza B5 emerges as a watershed between traditional luxury and technological luxury, betting on extended autonomy, extreme comfort, and sports performance. The SUV will be one of the major attractions at the São Paulo Auto Show 2025, which takes place from November 22 to 30 and promises to mark the beginning of a new phase of luxury electric mobility in the country.
