BRAVA Energy Has Just Innovated with an Unprecedented Drilling Technique and Reduced Costs and Time in Oil Well Construction.

BRAVA Energy has successfully completed the first two oil well drilling projects using an unprecedented technique in Brazil: casing drilling. The innovation was applied in the Alto do Rodrigues Field, located in the Potiguar Basin (RN), resulting in a significant 50% savings in time and 20% in drilling costs compared to the traditional method. This technology, widely used abroad, represents a milestone in the Brazilian onshore oil sector.

BRAVA Energy: Pioneering Technique Accelerates Operations and Increases Efficiency

Unlike conventional drilling, in which the well casing is installed only after the rock is opened with a drill and specific tubes, casing drilling combines these two steps into a single process.

This combination reduces the time the well is open, decreases operational risks, and enhances the overall efficiency of operations.

“Implementing casing drilling in one of our onshore assets is an important milestone, which allows us not only to significantly reduce costs and operation time but also to reinforce our commitment to innovation in the land well construction sector,” said Jorge Boeri, Onshore Operations Director at BRAVA Energy.

Technical Partnership Enabled Pioneering Project

The initiative was developed in collaboration with Tenaris, a multinational supplier of pipes and services for the energy industry.

For three years, engineering teams from BRAVA and the Technical Sales area of Tenaris carried out studies, simulations, and technical tests to adapt the technology to the Brazilian context.

“We thank the important contribution of the onshore drilling engineering team at BRAVA Energy and the technical team at Tenaris for their commitment and excellent results,” said Franklin Romero, General Manager of Well Construction at BRAVA Energy.

Renato Catallini, President of Tenaris in Brazil, highlighted the alignment between the companies: “We value BRAVA Energy’s commitment to seeking innovative solutions for onshore and the trust they placed in Tenaris to support their strategy.”

Upcoming Campaigns Will Already Include Casing Drilling

The first vertical wells drilled with the new technique reached depths of about 380 meters.

With the success of this application, BRAVA Energy plans to replicate casing drilling in new campaigns in the Estreito and Alto do Rodrigues fields, reinforcing its bet on innovation as a competitive differential in the onshore oil and gas segment.
