The route was ranked 14th in a ranking of the 60 best rail journeys on the planet.
This recognition was published in the 2025 edition of the guide “Amazing Train Journeys“, prepared by more than 200 experts in the tourism sector.
This achievement puts Brazil in the international spotlight, being the only representative of the country on the list.
Historical route and breathtaking landscapes
The train journey takes place between Curitiba and Morretes, covering 70 km in approximately four hours.
During the journey, passengers cross 41 bridges and 13 tunnels, with the highest point reaching an altitude of 952 meters.
This route allows you to immerse yourself in the Atlantic Forest, considered one of the most biodiverse and preserved forests in Brazil.
The tracks along which the train runs have a rich history, completing 140 years in 2025.
Brazilian historical figures, such as Princess Isabel, Dom Pedro II and Barão do Cerro Azul, have already traveled this railway, reinforcing its historical and cultural value.

The train's current capacity allows the transport of 1.200 passengers per leg. During Carnival, tours take place daily and, in low season, they are held on Saturdays.
