Chilean multinational Arauco will invest R$61,9 billion in the cellulose sector in Brazil, promising jobs and strong growth in the industry.
The giant of Chile Arauco is investing heavily in Brazil, with a project that marks the largest investment in the company's history. Located in Mato Grosso do Sul, the new pulp plant is expected to produce 3,5 million tons per year and create more than 6 direct jobs. The Sucuriu project

Arauco, which has operations in more than 75 countries, sees Brazil as a strategic location for expansion, considering the favorable conditions for eucalyptus cultivation and the infrastructure available to transport production.
The importance of the forestry sector
Mato Grosso do Sul is an important hub for industry of cellulose, with a 15% growth in the area of planted forests compared to the previous year.
Currently, the state has 1,5 million hectares dedicated to the cultivation of eucalyptus, essential for the production of cellulose.
According to data from the SIGA/MS Project, the state stands out for the presence of several companies in the sector, attracting significant investments totaling R$75 billion.

Theófilo Militao, director of Sustainability and Institutional Relations at Arauco do Brasil, states that the decision to invest in Brazil is based on the structural conditions of the state.
He highlights that the company has been present in Brazil since 2002, operating in the forestry and wood panel sector.
