UnB Opened Selection for the Professional Master’s in Education with Slots Distributed Among Affirmative Actions, Fully Online Stages, and Areas Focused on Educational Management and Public Policies.

The University of Brasília (UnB) is currently accepting applications for the Professional Master’s in Education (PPGE-MP), starting in the first semester of 2026.

Public notice no. 004/2025 provides for 35 regular slots, in addition to additional slots for affirmative actions, with selection conducted entirely online through the Selecta application.

The course is aimed at educators and professionals from related fields interested in management, public policy, and applied research in education.

Although all stages of the selection process are conducted remotely, the course itself combines in-person and online activities, as outlined in the public notice, lasting 24 months and requiring participation in courses, research groups, mentorship, and the production of a technical product.

Slots and Concentration Areas of the PPGE-MP

The public notice allocates 30 slots for general competition and 5 specific slots for the class associated with the National Secretary of Penal Policies.

Regarding this total, affirmative action policies apply, and there are additional slots for indigenous and quilombola candidates, which are not transferred to general competition in the absence of applicants.

The PPGE-MP is structured into two concentration areas, which organize the research lines and the expected pre-project profiles.

Concentration Area Main Focus
Public Policies and Education Management Educational policy, management and governance, funding, diversity, inclusion, and evaluation
Professional Development and Education Teacher training, curriculum, languages, formative processes, history, and school cultures

Individuals with a degree from a course recognized by the MEC can apply.

Graduates who can prove completion by the first day of classes in 2026 are also accepted.

In addition to general competition, the public notice includes specific groups linked to partner institutions.

Affirmative Action System and Reserved Slots

The PPGE-MP adopts the UnB’s affirmative action policy for graduate studies, reserving slots for candidates who are black, people with disabilities, indigenous, quilombola, and transgender or travestis.

The table below summarizes the distribution:

Modality Regular Slots Black People with Disabilities Trans/Travestis Quilombolas (Additional) Indigenous (Additional)
MISP/SENAPPEN/ESPEN 5 1
General Competition 30 6 1 1
Additional Slots 1 1
Total 35 7 1 1

Adherence to the quotas is voluntary and requires specific documentation, such as self-declaration and proof required by legislation and the university’s internal regulations.

In additional modalities, such as indigenous and quilombola, the slot is not transferred to general competition if there are no applicants.

Stages of the Online Selection

The selection process consists of four stages, all conducted remotely.

Stage Evaluation Format
Pre-Project Evaluation Alignment with the program, clarity, coherence, and methodological relevance Document analysis
Foreign Language Test Text comprehension in English or Spanish Online test
Written Content Test Essay questions based on the public notice bibliography Online test
Oral Test Questioning about the project and professional background Online interview

The pre-project must strictly adhere to the standards required in the public notice, without the candidate’s identification on the file.

The foreign language test is classificatory, while the written content test is eliminatory and classificatory.

In the oral test, two faculty members assess the project’s consistency, theoretical-methodological articulation, and the candidate’s background.

The minimum final score for approval is 7.0.

Deadlines and Schedule of the Public Notice

The public notice presents specific dates for the stages of the process.

Stage Date Observation
Applications 10/13 to 11/26/2025 Exclusively via the Selecta application
Waiver 10/13 to 10/19/2025 Request submitted through Selecta
Validation 10/27/2025 Publication on the official PPGE-MP page
Written Tests 11/03 to 11/06/2025 Content and foreign language

In addition to these dates, the schedule includes windows for appeals, preliminary and final results, oral stages, and enrollment.

Structure and Operation of the Course

The Professional Master’s in Education at UnB has a planned duration of 24 months and follows the regulations of the Graduate Dean’s office.

The training includes mandatory and elective courses, participation in research groups, regular mentorship, and the development of a technical product linked to educational practices.

The products may include action protocols, methodologies, technical reports, or materials applicable in educational contexts.

The student commits to in-person and online activities, following the workload and deadlines for qualification and defense.

Documentation and Requirements for Registration

To validate the application, the candidate must submit via Selecta personal documents, academic certificates, academic transcripts, and the pre-project formatted according to the public notice.

Specific declarations are also required for those applying under affirmative actions or institutional agreements.

Applications that diverge from the requirements may be denied during validation.
