The city of Los Angeles has just witnessed one of the boldest constructions in modern motorcycling history: a handmade motorcycle equipped with nothing less than the V8 engine from a Ferrari F355. The mastermind behind this insanity on two wheels is the workshop Hazan Motorworks, led by renowned customizer Maxwell Hazan, who has been turning dreams into machines of extreme engineering for years.
Named HF355, this bike was entirely designed from scratch. Unlike other projects that simply adapt powerful engines to existing frames, Hazan decided to build everything from the ground up: chassis, suspension, bodywork, and even the exhaust system. The result is a superbike that delivers 400 horsepower and defies any traditional standard — both in performance and aesthetics.
“The goal was to create a sport bike with a V8 engine that still maintained the proportions of a normal motorcycle, and it was definitely a challenge,” Hazan stated in an Instagram post, where he shares behind-the-scenes moments of the project. The phrase summarizes the spirit of this project well: a functional work of art that breaks the limits of what is considered a motorcycle.

Handcrafted Chassis, Italian Engine, and Californian Soul
Since the beginning of 2024, Hazan has been working on this project that, to many, sounds like madness. The 3.5-liter V8 engine from Ferrari — originally designed for sports cars of the 1990s — had to be adapted with a six-speed transmission, totaling around 140 kg just between the engine and gearbox. With all components installed, including 15 liters of fuel and fluids, the final weight of the motorcycle is 260 kg. The initial goal was 226 kg, but as the creator himself admits, the performance and integrity of the project justify the increase.
To handle such power and ensure stability, Hazan sought the help of several specialized partners: the exhaust system was custom-developed by the Italian SC Project, the suspension was handled by Rogue Racing, high-performance tires are supplied by Pirelli, and the lubricants used are from the brand Motul. The selection of components reinforces the commitment to performance and safety, without sacrificing refined and functional aesthetics.
On the official website of Hazan Motorworks, Hazan himself describes his philosophy: “Every bike I create is made with my own hands here in the workshop. They are unique, unrepeatable pieces. I strive to develop something new in each project and build the most interesting designs I can imagine in the most elegant way possible.”
From Carpenter in New York to Icon of Two Wheels
Hazan’s current success is the result of an unusual journey. Before becoming one of the biggest names in motorcycle customization in the world, he worked as an interior designer and contractor. His first experiments with motorcycles began in his father’s woodworking shop in the Brooklyn neighborhood of New York. Over time, he decided to move to Los Angeles, where he could fully dedicate himself to his passion: creating unique machines that blend cutting-edge engineering, futuristic design, and real performance.
The HF355 may be his most ambitious project, but it is far from the only one drawing attention. His portfolio includes everything from aerodynamic bikes inspired by salt flat racing at Bonneville to vehicles with classic influences and features reminiscent of cyberpunk. One of the most talked-about examples is his customized version of the BSA, which combined aluminum bodywork with innovative technical solutions — something that has become Hazan’s trademark.
Now, with the HF355 already on the move and nearing completion, the expectation is that this motorcycle not only becomes a reference in the world of custom bikes but also goes down in history as one of the boldest creations of the century. More than just a machine, it is a statement of freedom, creativity, and obsession with mechanical perfection.
