The Memorable Fiat Motor Fire Is Saying Goodbye After 40 Long Years of Existence

The iconic Fiat Fire engine, known for its reliability and simplicity, is about to exit the scene in Brazil. After almost 40 years of service, the iconic engine line will be discontinued due to new vehicle emission regulations, according to the website Auto Esporte.

The Fiat Fire engine was a pioneer in its time, being the first from the Italian brand to be assembled on a robotic line, which increased production efficiency and reduced costs. Its history dates back to 1985 in Europe, and it arrived in Brazil in 2000, replacing the Fiasa engines in models such as Uno, Palio, and Siena.

Evolution and Adaptations of the Fire Engine

Over the years, the Fire engine underwent various evolutions to remain competitive and meet market demands. In 2010, the Fire Evo was launched, with significant improvements in performance and efficiency. In 2022, the engine was updated to meet Proconve L7 standards, demonstrating its adaptability and longevity.

Despite its successful history, the Fire engine has been losing ground to the more modern and efficient Firefly family, which equips models such as Argo, Cronos, Strada, and Pulse. The Strada, for example, abandoned the Fire engine in favor of the Firefly in 2023.

The End of an Era

With the discontinuation of the Fiat Mobi with the Fire engine in 2025, the production line for the 1.4 engine will be closed, marking the end of an era for the iconic engine. Stellantis, the group that owns the Fiat brand, is also expected to replace the 1.4 engine in Fiorino and Partner Rapid with the Firefly by the end of 2024.

The Fiat Fire engine will be missed by fans of the Italian brand, but its legacy of reliability and simplicity will continue to be present in the memory of Brazilians. Its farewell marks the end of an era and the beginning of a new phase of innovation and efficiency for Fiat.
