IFSULDEMINAS Opened 2,000 Free Slots for the First Aid Course in the School Environment (120h, Distance Learning), with a Certificate Requiring a Minimum of 60% Passing Rate.
The First Aid Course in the School Environment at the Federal Institute of Southern Minas is a free, 100% distance learning program with 120 hours of duration. The goal is to train professionals and the school community to act in a systematic and safe manner in emergencies, a topic that has gained priority in public and private networks.
The proposal directly addresses the Lucas Law (Law No. 13,722/2018), which makes it mandatory to provide training in basic first aid for teachers and staff of schools and children’s recreation facilities. In other words, it is a qualification that helps schools and educators to comply with the legislation and implement a culture of prevention in their daily routines.
According to Notice 228/2025, this course is part of the Capacita Sul de Minas Project and is structured to expand its national reach, allowing registrations from candidates across Brazil, provided that minimum requirements are met. There are no tuition fees or registration fees, reinforcing the public nature of the initiative.

It is advisable to monitor that page for any announcements.
The automated electronic drawing ensures transparency and impartiality. If there are fewer applicants than available slots, all candidates are automatically selected, as stipulated by the notice. This is an important rule for those who leave registration until the last minute.

The target audience is professionals and students with complete high school education and a minimum age of 18 years. During registration, it is necessary to provide CPF and identity document or the National Identity Card (CIN). A valid email address is also mandatory, which will receive course communications. Filling everything out correctly is essential to avoid issues with enrollment.
The proof of education can be done with a certificate or transcript from high school. For those who completed it through ENEM, ENCCEJA, or suplicative examination, the notice details the accepted alternatives. Incorrect information or irregularities may lead to dismissal or non-certification.
The course is free and to obtain the certificate, students must achieve a minimum of 60% passing rate in the subjects. The certificate will be made available within 60 days after completion of the course, a useful timeframe for proof in selection processes or internal audits of educational networks.
Contents of the First Aid Course in the School Environment
The curriculum includes eight subjects that cover priorities in the school context, such as choking in adults and children, seizures and fainting, burns and wounds, respiratory arrest, cardiac arrest, cardiopulmonary arrest, and transporting the injured. There is also an introduction to first aid and a module on basic skills for the work environment.
This organization allows participants to develop safe procedures for assessment and initial response, reducing risks until specialized services arrive. It is content aligned with the Lucas Law, which calls for prevention and response capability within schools.
Being distance learning via Moodle, the content and assessment activities can be completed from anywhere, which facilitates the participation of teachers, coordinators, managers, and monitors who need to balance school routine and continuing education.
