Additionally, the open-source code allows other developers to create apps for Omi. So far, more than 250 apps have already been released in the device’s store, expanding its usage possibilities.

According to Based Hardware, it functions as a complement, a “partner” to your smartphone. This means that you won’t retire your cell phone, but rather gain an extra tool to facilitate your routine.
Imagine, for instance, being in the middle of a meeting and simply thinking: “Schedule a meeting with the marketing team for tomorrow.” Omi processes the command and already marks the appointment in the calendar. Cool, right?
For now, the company is focused on ensuring that the device works perfectly. More than 5,000 people are already testing a beta version to help improve the technology. The goal is for Omi to be able to understand commands accurately, without accidentally activating or missing an important request.
How Much Will It Cost and When Will It Be Available?
If you’re already anxious to get your hands on Omi, the good news is that it’s not as expensive as it seems. The final version of the new device will be sold for US$ 89, which is about R$ 543 at the current exchange rate. Of course, taxes and fees may influence the final price, but even so, it’s a quite affordable amount considering the level of technology involved.
The first deliveries are scheduled for the second quarter of 2025, so it’s a good idea to keep an eye out. If the success of the beta version continues, the expectation is that Omi will become one of the most sought-after gadgets of the year.
