Google is building a large engineering center in Brazil and is already hiring
O Google announced, on August 26, 2024, the progress of work for the construction of a new engineering center in Brazil, located on the outskirts of the University of São Paulo (USP), close to the Institute of Technological Research (IPT). The venture is part of a broad strategy to expand the company's operations in the country, with a focus on digital security and privacy, areas of great relevance both for Brazil and on the global stage.
As Works officially began on March 2, 2024 and the center is expected to open in January 2026. According to Alex Freire, engineering director at Google Brazil, this project is significant both in personal and professional terms. Freire, who has a deep connection with USP, highlighted that his mother taught at the university's Institute of Physics and that it was there that he had his first contact with information technology. “Coming back and contributing to this community is a huge satisfaction.”, stated Freire.
