In January 2026, retirees and pensioners of the INSS may see more money in their payment due to the new projected minimum wage. See the adjustment, who receives, how to check on My INSS, and the dates of the calendar.

If you are someone who checks the statement as soon as the money arrives, here’s a piece of news that stands out: the beginning of 2026 is likely to bring a “boost” in payments for many people from the INSS. The explanation lies in the minimum wage adjustment and how it impacts linked benefits. And the best part: you can check everything without leaving home, in just a few clicks.

Why May More Money Enter the Account in January 2026?

According to the schedule and projections published by the Federal Government, retirees and pensioners should start 2026 with a bonus in their paycheck, linked to the increase in the minimum wage. The forecast is that the national minimum will rise from R$ 1,518 to R$ 1,627, which represents an increase of 7.18%.

This adjustment occurs while inflation remains a concern. With the slowdown of IPCA, the calculations for 2026 have been revised and the expectation for the adjustment has decreased. Previously, the trend was to raise the minimum to R$ 1,631.

A common reading in the market and in the government is that a more controlled inflation reduces pressure on future projections and adjustments. In an economic bulletin cited by Reuters, the Economic Policy Secretariat (SPE) noted “easing of inflation” due to factors such as currency exchange and wholesale prices.

Who Will Feel the Difference in the INSS Benefit?

The logic is simple.

Those who receive one minimum wage as a benefit: the amount is likely to be updated automatically, along with the new minimum.

Those who receive above the minimum: the adjustment follows the INPC, an index that tracks price variations for low-income families.

In other words, the gain exists for both groups, but the calculation changes according to the benefit amount.

How to Check the Adjustment on My INSS Easily

To verify your own statement, the most straightforward path is through My INSS. You log in with your gov.br account, click on “Payment Statement,” and check the updated amounts.

If you suspect any discrepancies, you can request a review directly on the portal. And if you prefer to resolve it by phone, the channel remains 135.

One point that many people don’t know: the government emphasizes that this procedure is digital and does not require in-person visits. In the official guidelines of the service, the rule is clear: “you do not need to go to the INSS.”

Attention to Dates: When Does the INSS Pay in Early January?

Here comes an important detail: “early January” typically closes the benefit cycle for December of the previous year, with deposits that carry over into the new year.

A widely publicized schedule in the media shows payments for the December 2025 benefit continuing into the first days of January 2026, varying according to the last digit of the benefit (not considering the check digit).
